I just purchase new UNIDEN 5.8 GHz TRU8860-2 to replace my PANASONIC 2.4 GHz system, as I wanted the ability to have message waiting lamps and distinctive ringing based on caller ID. I really like the UNIDEN so far.
In the manual there is a feature it supports called "Call Waiting Deluxe" which looks like a nice feature. Does Vonage support this or plan to in the future? |

Call Waiting Deluxe is just another name for "Call Waiting with Caller ID", which Vonage has. Just to make sure it's clear, you will see the name/number of a caller on the display when the call waiting beep goes off just as you would see it when you are not on the phone. |

Camattin's answer is incorrect.
Call Waiting Deluxe is much more extensive and is not currently offered by Vonage. It is in fact offered by very few providers of any type.
This has been previously discussed Deluxe Call waiting Call waiting. |

Agreed with Scerruti...It is emhanced with the ability to forward to VM, etc, and is NOT offered by Vonage. |

Wow... learn something new every day. My information came from my experience with BellSouth, who touts "Call Waiting Deluxe" as I described above. They still do 'til this day:
BellSouth's Call Waiting Deluxe Description
Should someone enlighten BellSouth as to the error of their ways? |

Yes you should...Bellsouth's Call Waiting is just that, a tone. Their "Deluxe" is Call Waiting with ID.
The Unidens support what will be the "true" call waiting deluxe, ie routing the calls to VM etc. Other services have it like Bellsouth, but they are extra. |

Done!
We'll see if they bother getting back to me or not...but I asked them why there's such a huge feature-gap between what they call Call Waiting Deluxe (which I now know is just Call Waiting with CallerID delivery ) and what the rest of the industry calls it (specifically other telco's and phone manufacturers).
I'm not going to hold my breath for a response! |

Very easy reply for you, and it will save you from death!
It's called money. Why give away for free what they can sell for extra money? I used to have that feature, it was called Privacy Manager I believe. They charged a monthly fee.... |

I just went down the BellSouth feature list and can't find any features they have that come close to the 'real' "Call Waiting Deluxe".
Just checked Sprint's local features list and they don't offer "Call Waiting Deluxe" either... but at least they're not committing the false advertising that BS is. |
