I purchased the Vtech 8100-2 from Circuit City and can not get as far as you did on your first one HotDogg. I use triad.rr.com in NC, have a Toshiba PCX2500 cable modem. The modem / router connection appears to be dead. Modem works fine otherwise. It works fine with the Linksys RTP3000-VD I got from Vonage (I thought I had to buy it - I'm an idiot).
I really need upstairs / downstairs phones, the 8100-2 would've been great. I was just to return the stuff to Circuit City but after reading your post I may give it one more try with an exchange. I don't know the correct terminology to even google what I need - remote phones? |

Try the exchange. I was pissed cause I had to wait another week but now that I have the phone and now that I see Sam's Club doesn't have the phone any more I'm glad I waitied. |

Vonage was able to activate my IP8100-2 over the phone -- I didn't have to go back to Circuit City (my MAC Address was shown as invalid when I tried to set my Vonage account up online).
It took about 24-48 hours longer for the Vonage service to work after speaking with customer service (it took that long for them to activate my MAC Address?), but it has been working fine now for the last 2-3 weeks. |

Hi. I exchanged the 1st IP 8100-2 at Circuit City with no problem.
Better luck with the 2nd unit - as I'm on line yippee. BUT the instructions say to not use the handsets until the base has gone from flashing yellow to solid green. It's solid yellow (I'm not color blind).
Did this happen to anyone who has installed this unit? |

So, at what point do you just give up? I have purchased FIVE of the IP8100 systems from Best Buy(2), Circuit City (2), and Sam's Club(1). All have come back with invalid MAC addresses. Each time, I have called customer support I get the long (and heavily accented) runaround - eventually telling me that my only option is to go back to the store...
Is this REALL the only option?
When is enough enough? |

Do you absolutely need to have those phones? Just get a regular adapter and buy a cordless phone system...Cheaper and easier. Also, if there is an issue, you return the adapter to Vonage and they send you a new one the next day. |

The point is is that it's a Vonage-Supported phone and people aren't supposed to go through this!! Vonage, as it does NOT do with many other things such as DSL issues and 'hidden' charges, is not foward enough with 'possible' bad news. Should they be?? |

After the 2nd-3rd try, I would pursue other avenues. |
