I've had Vonage for quite a few months now, but up until recently I am having issues with incoming calls. Outgoing calls are working fine.
Here are the symptoms I am seeing. Incoming call comes in, phone rings once and then stops ringing. The call doesn't even get forwarded to voicemail. I've checked the call forwarding feature and it is disabled. Here's the bizarre part; while I am on a call and another caller tries to call in; that caller hears normal ringing (i.e. more than once) and should I choose not to answer, the call will go to voicemail. But for now, if there's no activity, i.e if I am not on the phone and an incoming call comes in, I better answer before the end of the 1st ring, else incoming callers don't even have the option to leave a message.
Here are my equipment details... ISP: Comcast Phone Adapter: Linksys RT31P2 Device Wireless Router: Linksys WRT54G Cable Modem: Surfboard SB5100
Any suggestions??? Please help. |

Have you set the voicemail function where you can select the number of rings before the call goes to voicemail? Is your voicemail set up to go to email rather than regular voicemail? |

I don't see an option to set the # of rings before it goes to voicemail; however, I do see the option to set the # of seconds the phone rings before it reaches my voicemail. Yes, I have played with that option and found out that when I set the # of seconds to "INSTANT" then incoming calls will go straight to voicemail. But as soon as I assign numbers to the # of seconds, then the caller will hear ONLY 1 ring and then get a busy signal or just blank. Strange behavior.
Any other options that anyone recommends tweaking? |

I have the same problem, and it just started recently.
Every few incomming calls, the phone will ring once and then disconnect. From the other end, the call is either routed to voicemail, or it is forwarded to the cell phone. Usually if the caller calls again right away, I will be able to pick-up in time, or it will just work normally and ring a few times. Otherimes it wil ring a few times and work as a normal phone.
I wonder if this is not related to a firware update to the Linsys. I just noticed that the firware on my Linksys RT31P2 is "1.30.00, Aug 18 2005", which seems to correspond with when if first started noticing this problem. I did reset all my equipment recently. |

I am running the 1.30.00 firmware and have not had the problem so far. Is this related to any particular geographical area of the country? This may be worth looking into. |

It's been happening about a third of the time for me as well the last few days. It's not a linksys thing, as I'm running the motorola.
It hasn't been long enough or severe enough for me to poke around further.
This has the potential to become quite annoying though.... |

I've been having the same problem for the past few weeks. Sometimes incoming calls ring once and then go to voice mail; other times the calls ring through like they're uspposed to. I have a Motorla telephone adapter. I've put two calls into customer service, but they don't seem to know what the problem is. |

I too have experienced the single ring problem. Very annoying.
It also seems that I experience choppy calls and disconnects more often since the upgrade.

I had the same problem after the last update until I did a reboot of the adapter by unpluging it for 30 sec. then it worked fine again!
Good luck!

In my case I have voicemail off and use a local answering machine. After the one ring and stop, the call is transferred to my network outage number.
This has just started recently, and is very intermittent. Would really like a fix for this.
