I heard mixed reviews of the RTP300. Can anyone comment on which is better... PAP2 or RTP300?
Voice quality? Flaky? (reboots, etc) Being able to Fax/Tivo modem? |

Only had the PAP2 and as you can see from my signature I have only been on for a month. But, I have had no problems. I bought my PAP2 at Best Buy, brought it home, hooked it up to my Linksys router, registered, and was running in 15 minutes. Now that was interesting. Can't get much simpler. I use my cable modem for my laptop (wireless), two desktops (wireless), two Playstation 2's (wired to router / hub), two digital receivers (wired to router / hub), and one repeater for wireless. Most equipment using DHCP. I do use MAC IDs to lock my children's computers from the internet during homework time and bed time. So far zero system problems. I did notice that I was having to use TCP protocol for my VPN now. The Voip absorbed the UDP ports my VPN was using. But I don't have any problems with that either. So, I can't say anything bad about the PAP2. |

Been with Vonage for 3 weeks now. Have the RTP 300 and it has worked great so far. Using it with a Motorola Surfboard 5120 cable modem (Comcast) and an Apple Airport Express. Hooked it up and was running in 15 minutes. Phone quality has been great. Features are awesome. Had my alarm hooked up to it today. Waiting for number to port to drop Verizon. |

Had the RT31P2 router & hated it... voice quality was decent but totally inferior to my RTP300. As you can see by my sig, I pile on the minutes. (haven't updated it in awhile, but add another 500 or more to it b/c of the hurricane). It's still not 100% bug-free, but for most calls you'll never notice it. Ex: *99 doesn't change codecs, call progress tones aren't quite the standard ones, etc. |

I can not comment about any of the other routers since I am a new user and have only had the RTP300. I will tell you that I am very impressed by the quality of the calls I have been making. The one thing that I truly like about it is the fact that my mother hates it when I use Speaker phone and has always complained about it. I hate holding a phone up to my ear. I always use speaker even on my cell. After I got it I called my mother to talk to her and just before we hung up she told me that I sounded great and that she was so happy that I finally did not use speaker phone while talking to her. Don't tell her but I was on the speaker phone the entire time. She never knew the difference. For this I love the RTP300 and Vonage. |

For me the RT300 is a GREAT product. Very clear, stable so far, and I faxed out an 8 page agreement the other day to a client and went through no problem... Do you need the routing capabilities? |

I don't need the routing capabilities.
I do need Fax/Tivo dialing.
The PAP2 doesn't work well with fax/tivo. That's why I was thinking of trading the PAP2 for an RTP300. |

Is Vonage shipping the RT300P exclusively now? (i.e. are they still shipping the RT31P2 also for new customers or as a replacement device?) |

I believe they are as new and replacement adapters. They just stopped for a while to get the kinks out. |
