I have a funny problem, I have SBC DSL with 4 MBPS speed, running with Vonage WRT54GP2 router, ver 1.00.43. Every few days my phone and wireless network stops working, and i have to switch off the router and start it again. If i plug my notebook directly to the DSL modem it works fine, and if i connect my notebook to the router when the wireless connection is down, it wont work. This problem happened with the previous style of the Linksys wireless router with built in phone ports as well as the new one. However I never had that problem with PAP2 adapters. I am not sure why my connection drops every few days or sometimes a few times in a day. I called in the Vonage support, the guy i talked to..kept me going around in circles, and kept on talking how good he was at troubleshooting, and that it was all my fault that the device wasnt working...(phew..!!)..finally i am living with the problem for NOW .... Any help is appreciated... |

I do have a WRT54GP2 and I also have to power cycle it almost daily, but I don't see that version number anywhere on my router. I do have firmware version 1.29.0 though. |

go to 192.168.15.1. and in the upper right you will see the firmware level; here's what it sould be Firmware Version: 1.00.43
if you are not at 1.00.43 call Vonage tech support and have them download and install is the easiert way |

Seems to be some confusion here. I was just updated a few days ago, and I went from 1.28.0 to 1.29.0 Maybe one of the Vonage reps in here can straighten this out?
And maybe someone can fix these disconnects too. |

It gets messed up because it tries to update the firmware and ends up puking and hoses up the voice all together.
I wish they would come up with a way to just NOT (try to) update me every other day. Because 1.00.29 is the most stable firmware I have gotten from them. And when they don't try to update my router, it works fine.
I sure hope someone at Vonage is getting a spanking for these recent eff-ups. |
