Post subject: RE www.testyourvoip.com
What exactly does this site test?.
What I really want to know is if the results are independent from the particular
VOIP
service. I am trying to find out if I am having trouble with
Vonage
or Comcast. My phone quality is (from testyour
voip
) is all over the place. One minute it is great and 3 mins later it is terrible.
Thanks
scerruti

Brix Networks, who provides testyour
voip
.com, provides commercial test and performance monitoring solutions for
VoIP
networks. So, yes, their tests are carrier agnostic.
They basically send a predetermined pattern through your Internet connection in the same way a
VoIP
phone (adapter or softphone) would and measure the quality of the transfer.
Their Golden Phone service will actually measure the call quality across your
VoIP
service provider's network. However it is intended not to measure your service provider as much to measure your connection. It is not intended as a replacement for testyour
voip
but it may indicate provider problems if you get good results from the applet and poor results from golden phone.
In summation, if you are having questionable results from TestYour
Voip
.com you do not have a
Vonage
problem. It is most likely a Comcast problem but it could be a problem father upstream.
