Hi all,
Here's my setup which creates my dilemna. My cable is coming in on the second floor of my house and is plugged into Vonage and a wireless network. My previous phone configuration had a cordless answering system mounted in the kitchen that accepts two cordless phones.
I am in hopes of finding an cordless/answering system that has a feature that will notify of a waiting voice mail by some type of indicator on the phone handset. Years back I had a cordless system that offered this feature that would indicate of a waiting voice mail on the answering machine and I could play it back from the handset.
Do any of you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks.

I assume you will be using the Vonage Voice Mail that comes with your service. If this is the case, you do not need a cordless set up with an answering machine. You may want to consider the Uniden TRU 8860-2 or the TRU 8865-2 Both are 5.8 GHz systems and either one will support up to 10 handsets on the system. The handset has a message lamp which will light up when you receive a message on Vonage Voice Mail. You can retrieve the voice mail message from any handset by dialing the access code *123
Both of the above uniden systems comes with 2 handsets.
Hope this helps you |

It's not clear to me from your message whether you're talking about the Vonage voicemail (which gives a stutter dial tone when a message is waiting), or using the built-in answer functions on your answering machine/phone.
If you want an indicator on the cordless handset for the built-in answering machine on the base station, I have a phone that does this. I'm using a Panasonic cordless system, similar to this one:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000068CNH/103-8999146-3847835?v=glance
(hope the link works)
It supports up to 8 handsets, I believe, on the same base station. I have a total of two. It's been a GREAT system. When there's a message waiting on the answering machine, the "Play" button on the handset LCD blinks right above its button, and I can play & erase the messages right on the handset on its built-in speakerphone.
That said, for the moment I'm using Vonage's built-in voicemail, and have turned the answering function off on my machine. Since I'm usually near my computer, I use the e-mail notification as my "message waiting" flag.
I don't know of a cordless system that will let you know of a system voicemail message, though, if that's what you're wondering. But by your message, I think you mean a message waiting on the home machine, and this system will do that.
Hope that helps. |

The UNIDEN Cordless 5.8 System I referenced will defineltly light a MSG lamp from the Vonage Voice Mail. That is exactly how I use it. If you purchase a UNIDEN Cordless system that has it's own digital answering system, you would need to program the selection you want to use. (either the Vonage VM or the cordless answer machine) |

Oh, that's VERY slick that it can do that. If this Panasonic ever dies, that may be my next phone! |

I have an AT&T 2.4 GHz Telephone E2715B it has caller ID and voicemail indicator on both handsets.
Yes I am talking about Vonage voicemail, the phones do not have a built in answer machine.
Each handset has a red light that lights up and the main base station also has a red light that lights when there is a new voicemail.
