Hi all,
Currently having a deep look into Vonage offer, I have the following concern about bandwith usage.
I am currently using Videotron High Speed for my Internet connection.
I am limited to 20GB down, 10GB up.
Considering the Basic 500 plan, I am wondering how much bandwith it would consume, assuming I am using the 500 minutes, plus a couple of hours of international call.
If anyone could give me a hint about that... that's the only thing that still make me hesitate to become a Vonager.
Thanks a lot

I am replying because I felt this was a good question. Unfortunately I don't have my network set up to do the traffic measurements and don't have the time at the moment to do the reconfiguration.
I would be able to help someone else do the measurements if they were willing to take the time. Obviously the actual usage will depend on the nature of the calls and the voices of the people talking. |

According to my Dashboard, the highest quality I can assign to my calls is 90Kb/s. I did some very quick calculations and if you were to use your whole 500 minutes at max quality, you'd be using 0.32 Gigabytes (not gigabits) in download. That is, if the data stream is uncompressed. I'm not sure if the adapter does compression which shrinks the stream quite a bit during moments of silence. |
