Current setup: As suggested in this thread, but my first router is a combination DSL modem/router (Westell VersaLink 327W).

I also tried the default setup, Verizon DSL connection-->DSL modem/router, with computer attached to one of its ethernet ports-->RTP300-->phone 1

My phone's working, voice quality is okay (that's a different issue- my upload speeds have dropped drastically this month; I'm contacting Verizon tomorrow), no problems connecting to the internet on either setup.

Problem is, on either setup I can't access the RTP300 admin page (http://192.168.15.1). I've tried pinging it to no avail. Any suggestions or tips to get this straightened out would be great (please keep in mind I'm not a networking expert, still just learning!).

I can access my DSL modem/router's admin page fine (192.168.1.1), just not the RTP300's.

Have you tried connecting your computer(s) to the RTP300 instead of the DSL router? You may need to release and renew your IP address after doing so. You may possibly also need to use your ISP's DNS servers. If you post your current setup as reebok has suggested, we could help you some more.

Thanks Maaz! I just tried that and it worked. Phone works, 'net works, and I can finally get into both admin pages. I had re-cycled both routers during the reconfig, and didn't have to do an IP release and renew or manually set my DNS servers.

In case anyone else is having this problem, the working setup that Maaz suggested looks like this:

RTP300 (with phone connected via phone1 port, main PC connected to first Ethernet port)-->Westell DSL modem/router-->DSL line

The 192.168.15.1 address is an internal address to the RTP300... meaning that if your PC is on one of the 4 ethernet ports of the RTP300, then you would use that address. If you're outside of the RTP300, though, meaning the only connection your PC has to the RTP300 is through some other switch/router and then through the Internet port of the RTP300, then you would need the external address of the RTP300, which is assigned to it by whatever router is upstream from it.

That's why you had to be plugged in to one of the 4 ports on the RTP300 itself to use 192.168.15.1. Also, by default, the web interface is disabled for external connections, so to get to it from outside of the RTP300 at all, you would have to go in from the internal side and enable the setting for the external web interface.

Cool, thanks for explaining that. I wish they'd mentioned that in the user guide... and believe me, I looked.

I'm actually getting better sound quality with the RTP300 as the first router, so I'll leave it like this, but it's nice to know why it works. Thanks for the info.
