Background info:
Little Rock, AR. Cebridge Connections, 3meg down, 512k up, Win XP system. Modem is an Arris Touchstone CM450A, Vonage is a Linksys RTP300. Setup is Modem > RTP300 > PC (no router previously on system).
While I have phone service there is no net connection. I can access the router setup site, and can ping the lan card and the router, but nothing on the web. If I plug directly into the cable modem, all works fine but the router is somehow blocking my traffic or refusing to talk to my network card. I'm using firmware version 43. I've been round and round with tech support and they recommended buying a new network card, so I did (Linksys wired one) but nothing has changed.
I tried a few of the tips from the forum, but cloning the mac address loses my the phone line too! Nothing else seems to have any sort of positive effect... Any suggestions would be great.
Sincerely,

Does the XP PC have a static or dynamic ip address?
What does the output look like when you run the command "ipconfig /all" from a dos window? |

Not sure if the RTP300 does DNS proxy, but have you tried specifying your DNS servers in your TCP/IP settings in case your not using DHCP? |

We have a dynamic IP address assigned by the ISP automatically (or that's what we've always been set to anyway) and yes the RTP300 does act as a DCHP server by default and has DNS proxy options in the interface. I haven't tried assigning DNS myself, as I've no idea what addresses to use for it
Ipconfig /all brings up this:
C:\DOCUME~1\USER>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration

Edit: Obviously, that's with the router plugged in and enabled, instead of the direct connection I'm having to use to post this! |

I would try to bypass the DNS proxy. To determine your DNS servers plug your modem directly into your PC and perform an ipconfig/all. Your ISP DNS servers would be automatically assigned.
But before you do all that, I'd make sure that it is a DNS proxy issue.
From command line run "nslookup www.google.com". If you are able to resolve this address than you have other issues. If you cannot, then it looks like your router is not querying your ISP DNS servers. |

Canadian, I love you! Manually set the DNSes and power cycled everything and presto! Thanks so much, maybe I'll call Vonage tech support and tell them how so solve it
Many thanks,
