I have had Vonage now for 4 - 5 months and have been quite happy with the service.. I have had a couple minor issues but nothing major.. Anyway, a couple days ago I started having a new problem. I tried to call tech support but was unable to get through to anyone as of yet..
The problem I am having is that when a call comes in the phones ring about 5 times before heading to voicemail now all but 1 of those rings sound normal but usually 1 or 2 rings will have varying volumes.. For example it will ring the 1st ring fine, then the 2nd ring will start out find then it will drop in the middle then return to normal during the 3 seconds that it rings then go on to the 3rd ring and be fine.. Now it doesn't do this everytime the phone rings but probably 75% of the time now..
It is very hard to describe.. Anyway, I live in the KW area using Rogers Express Internet. I have the RT31P2 router. I have already recycled my entire network..
Anyones advice would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you Eamonn |

No advice but i just wanted to share that I have a similar problem and ask if anyone's familiar with it. When i am calling out these days the rings are very strange. It starts loud than gets quiet at times and then starts quiet and then gets loud. sometimes it also double rings like an echo except not.

Just wanted to add that I am in Bentonville Arkansas and have had Vonage for about 9 months now.
No real problems that I can speak of with the service and have been VERY pleased with it.
Within the past week or so I have noticed the same (outgoing ringing tone) problem that you speak of. This happens on all outgoing calls regardless of weather it is in the same area or across the country, first part of the ring is normal volume and second half of the ring is loud. I am used to this now as I make alot of calls but it's not normal, as the outgoing ring tones were just fine up to a week ago.
I assume Vonage did something to cause this and is just not aware or haven't had enough complaints about it yet, but call quality is still GREAT!!! so I will live with a minor annoyance such as this. |

I think I was misunderstood.. Its not the outgoing calls I am having a problem with.. It is the incoming calls.. |
