Exactly Polarisdb.... That version of firmware will not work on the RT31P2. |

I'm not trying to put the sveasoft firmware on the Vonage box, I put it on the WRT54G ver. 2, and the firmware version is Free-Man/Basic 1.0.4.
After I put it on the WRT54G, the Vonage RT32P2 kept rebooting every 4 or 5 minutes. |

Gotcha.
Not sure why the ATA would keep rebooting. Does it stay up when the 54G is taken out of the equation?
Also, more details on your setup might shed some light on what's going on. |

OK....more details....sorry if this gets a little long.
I have the RT31P2 (Vonage Box) and a WRT54G Wireless Linksys router.
The bottom line is that it seems that whenever I have the RT31P2 NOT directly connected to the internet--I have a HUGE echo on calls, in fact, even with the RT31P2 directly connected to the internet--there is still an ooccasional echo.
What I wanted to do was to put the WRT54G connect to the internet and let that do the QoS for the Vonage calls--but, the RT31P2 kept rebooting while i was making a test phone call 3 or 4 minutes into it.
Since that wasn't working, I wanted to put the Vonage box connected to the internet, it doesn't reboot anymore, but there is still an occasional echo. I have the bandwidth setting on the Vonage website to 50 kbps, hoping that would stop it--no good.
See my previous thread at: WRT54G and RT31P2 not working well together
ANY help would be great...as I said--I am getting close to cancelling. I don't really want to though. |

Not sure of your settings on the wrt54g but there have been a few posts about this problem and the recommendations always seem to be the same ---port forwarding of the following ports: * 5060 through 5063 using UDP protocol * 123 using UDP protocol * 69 using UDP protocol * 53 using UDP protocol * 10,000 through 20,000 using UDP protocol
here is a link to one of those discussions http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic7440.html there was also something about tech support having to make some tweaks and switch them to the second phone port, either way hope this helps. -Bob |

I tried this configuration and it seems to work great as far as ensuring good voice quality. I did notice on a speed test that the returned speed was significantly less that what it was before making these changes.
Is this a normal side effect of using QoS, or is there something that I need to change? |

You may be able to tweak the upload and download values to help things a bit, but in my experience the speed test results will be slower with QoS enabled. It's just the nature of the beast, I guess... |

I've tried all of the port forwarding suggestions on other pages , I still cant get above 5-8kb/s on dl from torrents. I use BitTornado and before the RTP300 Voip router I was getting 80-200kb/s....
Is there any other way besides these non working port forwardings I have been trying ?
Please help ! |
