I am willing to say Vonage is going to be unable to make it by end of year. E-911 is not important to them if the FCC didn't care Vonage would still be hiding behind the cell phones and drag it out for another 10 years.

Everytime people mention e-911 someone has to say will it took cellphones 10 years. All I have to say is SO! Cells Phones were not ment from the start to replace POT like Voip is.

I find it interesting that you've totally ignored my posts. Even AT&T is requesting more time.

Who cares about AT&T like who uses them any more? They dropped home users a long time back. AT&T is focus now on business users

Vonage has no idea who on their network has E-911 so on the magiic deadland they will just tell FCC everyone has it without knowing? The 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9...... parties that Vonage works with must have to report back telling them what they have done and where they are and what is left to do.

If the CEO of Vonage can spend time worring and finding which ISP is chargeing a sub-charge to users or blocking them he can surely find out the progress of E-911 deployment on Vonage networks and relay that back to users.

I hope you realize that this deadline is not to implement E911, it's simply to get customers to acknowledge that they don't have it.

It is stupid, though, that they want the customers dropped. So instead of getting something less than E911, they end up with nothing. If an emergency happens, you don't even have a line to call out on. Much better.

Most people understand that, but not all..But if people have not responded yet, then that is their issue. Also one of the solutions is not to drop the phone service completely, but leave it hot just for 911 calls.

I click and answer their 911 question a couple months back. I went to look at my Vonage information and before I could had to read and check agree to before I could get in to my account.

I am sign up. I am not sure I got E-911 I got another letter in the mail saying to call 933 but all it says is I have 911 enable on this phone. It doesn't tell me anything about E-911. As far as it being a mobile service that maybe true. I bet a lot of users don't move it around a lot.

If you do and forget to update 911 information then I would say it would be your fault. Voange should provide E-911 to home address or billing address. Mobile users should update 911 often if that's the case.

OK, here I sound like a broken record. This is new technology folks. Remember the days when they were trying to figure out what to do with cell phones and 911? They still don't have that solved. And yet Vonage at least is working on it. When I signed up I investigated companies. Several said up front that they will never even attempt to get 911 or E911. Vonage said they are trying.

I'm sorry, but Voip technology is here to stay. With it will come innovation and we are just seeing the sun rise. A lot of cities still haven't got even the staff to keep up with the 911 system (I saw that in Atlanta).

By the way, I have all my local services numbers programmed into my phone just in case because I understand this is a new technology. I suggest this to everyone whether or not they have Voip.

By the way, I grew up in a small Northwest Alabama town and here is a fact I find interesting. The first 911 call was placed on February 16, 1968 in Haleyville, Alabama. It was made by Alabama Speaker of the House, Rankin Fite and answered by Congressman Tom Bevill. A small independent Alabama telephone company got tired of waiting on AT&T to make up their minds and beat them to the punch. Several sites will verify this information including www.about.com. It takes a new upcoming company with spunk kind of like Vonage to make things happen some times.
