The first thing I have to ask... Is there an RJ-11 jack on it so that you can use other devices with your Vonage connection as well? This is my biggest gripe with the VTech setup (besides that VTech makes total crap) |

I was excited to arrive home this evening and see that UPS had delivered my new Uniden UIP 1869V from zalmar.com. Had never dealt with them and was nervous the product was vaporware (it still wasn't on the Uniden web site when I placed the order). But it showed up in just a few days. I was pretty excited to open it up!
I opened the box, and carefully keeping all packaging intact, read the Quick Setup guide.
I was immediately dismayed. Next to the picture of the "phone 1" and "phone 2" (RJ-11) ports on the Uniden base was a statement, "The Uniden phone system is only associated with line 1."
What??
All of the product materials (even the text on the box) and led me to believe this was a 2-line phone. It's not! It's just a 1-line phone with a 2-line router built-in.
So, I've asked zalmar.com for a full refund for the phone. Not because I'm fickle, mind you, but because I was led to believe that I was purchasing a 2-line phone, and instead just got a 1-line phone. I'd be better off with my original router (Linksys RTP-300) and a Uniden TRU8866. At least, I think that is a 2-line phone!

uh, are you sure that doesn't mean it's only associated with line 1 if you have one line? lots of people assume the two phone jacks on the vonage devices mean you can plug two phones into it, with just one line. I'd do a little more investigating and less assuming. |

Dude, I've got the product in my hands. I have read the owner's manual. How much more "investigating" would you like? It's not a 2-line phone. No buttons for "line 1" and "line 2". It's just not.
The manual says "If you have subscribed to a second VoIP line you can connect an analog phone or fax machine to Phone2"
Re-read the text I quoted previoiusly from Uniden "The Uniden phone system is only associated with line 1."
Not "primarily" - "only."
Thanks for assuming I'm a moron, though. Nice. A more constructive post might have been to do some research yourself and point out to me any data that you seem to be convinced I have missed.
Until then, I stand by my assessment. This is a 1-line phone with a 2-line router built-in. |

You are correct. I believe the TRU8866 is the only 2 line phone. I have it and love it. |
