I've noticed or got complaints about two voicemail problems:
- When I delete voicemail messages on line, the message light on my caller ID will often continue to blink. I can stop it manually, but Vonage will continue sending "voicemail waiting" signals and it starts blinking again. There is also a brief "busy signal" sound at the beginning of the Vonage dial tone, telling me there's supposedly a message waiting. Of course, there's not! The only way I've found to stop the blinking is to call the Vonage voicemail number and be told that I have no messages. When I hang up, the blinking stops.
Vonage's on line system is evidently not always sending the clear code when messages are deleted.
- A couple of people have complained that they tried to call me when I wasn't at home and the phone kept ringing. Voicemail never picked up, although it's set to at 20 seconds. I'm told in some cases, the phone rings a while and then disconnects.
Does the system get overloaded and unable to accommodate more than a set number of simultaneous callers? At any rate, voicemail not picking up on EVERY call after the set time has passed is unacceptable.
Any ideas?
Thanks! |

Yes, voicemail has been having serious problems for some time now. A few weeks ago the response time for the voicemail to kick in took about as long as trying to get technical support on the phone. I would enter *123 and then wait forever for it to prompt me for my password. Callers had similar wait times for the response to leave a message.
My problems now are that I don't know if I have voicemail or not. My message waiting light blinks, but when I try to access my voicemail there aren't any new messages. BUT - when I access my voicemail from the Vonage website there is a new message, I just can't access it from my phone. And then suddenly the message waiting light goes out on my phone. So, do I or don't I have a message??
It appears that the voicemail feature right now is totally unreliable and Vonage needs to get their acts together and fix this important feature right away. |

I've just encountered the same issue, stutter tone on phone but when I call for the message it says no new messages, now the stutter tone is gone but I know my friend left a message. I also experienced the seemingly interminable wait for "please enter your password". Additionally I just discovered the RT31P2 was changed to the 1.29.00 firmware and I no longer get caller id waiting phone numbers although the phone does beep. I tried calling for support but it was a 25 minute wait so I'll try another time. These failures and problems are becoming very annoying. |

I have encountered similar problems with a misleading voicemail indicator light.
Some on this forum have suggested some ways to get around it.
1. Enable email attachments when new voicemails are received. 2. When checking your voicemail and after hearing all of them and deleting the ones that need to be deleted, end the call with the * (star) button which disconnects you from the Voicemail line. Apparently some have found this last step to be helpful in removing a misleading light.
However, I have not encountered the issues with voicemail not prompting me for a password or the issue of seeing a voicemail on the web but not from the phone.
I agree with all of you here that they need to fix some bugs in their voicemail server since it is obviously not working up to the standards we expect.
I heard this from a manager on my request for a credit while my vmail was down for a week. She said, "Voicemail is a free feature and therefore I cannot credit you for something you did not pay for." I guess they will be using that line for their issues... |

I am also having VoiceMail problems! There are times when the call is never picked up, and other times it takes about 10 seconds of silence then my greeting is heard. By that time, most callers hung up. Tech Support first explained that my VoiceMail was still routed to my old phone provider. After I followed-up with a question, then why can I sometimes receive voicemail through Vonage because I use the *123 to get my messages. I was then told that there was a problem with their system that a delay is caused when someone is calling in from a standard PBX. They are working on the problem. I've spent more time attempting to resolve problems then I do talking to people for months. I should have just stayed with my old provider and paid full price for every feature they had! |

Come on, lets pay ridiculous prices. Even during the VM issues a few weeks ago, I still received mine through the email system as an attachment no problem. Yes the light may still be blinking etc, but no way would I go back to paying full price... |
