Hi,

I just wanted to confirm this as well. I am not noticing the incoming ring or caller ID malfunctions however, I do get an outgoing ring tone malfunction.

It's hard to explain but it makes the phone sound nearly ill.

I am in Phoenix Area

Regards,

MrGoo

there have been threads here and there about a weak ring and no caller id (heck that's how I found this forum, I was having the same problem) here are a couple threads about it:

This may be an odd question, but how do you have your network setup. I have my Vonage Router behind my Wireless router and I have never recieved an upgrade to my firmware or vioice firmware. I have made sure to forward all the ports that I am suppose to, to my Vonage router.
Code:
SIP                  5160-5161        192.168.1.2
Streams          10000-20000        192.168.1.2
tFTP               69->69                  192.168.1.2
IP Address 192.168.1.2 is my static IP for my Vonage router. I am running the following versions for my voice and hardware:
Code:
Voice Version: 2.0.13(LIVd)
Firmware Version: 1.28.00
How out of date is the Voice version? it seems a whole major version less than what everybody else is using.

you shouldn't have to forward any ports. if you want to try to force an upgrade, disconnect the wireless router and power down the modem and rt31p2. then power back on the modem, then the rt31p2 with it directly connected to the modem. beforehand, take out any connections from the rt31p2 (phone included, esp if you use the shorted out line trick for port 2, this can block upgrades) and watch for the power light to stop blinking.
fwiw, myself and many people here have it setup like you do.

So you are telling me I don't need the SIP port open or any of my streams open in the firewall? or were you just refferring the tftp?

I believe the new patch for the RT and PAP cause the Ring Waveform to change from Trapazoid to Sinuious, Vonage is not sure why it happen I know that they are working on it. Also if you just call in and talk to Tech Support they can change it back, I have found this to be a good fix. If it doesn't work might be something deeper I know tech reps are taking and reporting this information to engineering to resolve the matter quickly.

do you have a firewall or are you talking about the one on the wireless router? if you have a software or hardware firewall (other than the wless router) you may need to forward. otherwise you shouldn't have to since the box itself initiates all connections.
