Canadian...

I've had issues on and off since I started in March. Very tired of it. Vonage is now sending me the RPT300. Sounds like you and I had 'some' of the same issues.

Currently my setup is like this:

Cable Modem -> DLink WiFi router -> Linksys RP31P2.

When you say don't connect it to the Cable modem I assume your saying the layout above is the way to go in your opinion. My plan is to simply swapout and plugin the RPT300.

Thoughts?

I've had a variety of issues since I've had Vonage. This is my last shot. If this doesn't work I plan to switch to AT&T.

This was my ideal configuration with the RT31P2.

DSL -> NetGear -> RT31P2. However, your DLINK probably does not have QOS - so you may run into issues where your connection is maxed out and voice quality degrades.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but to you router people out there. QOS is only effective downstream, not upstream correct?

Other way around actually... upstream (outgoing) is what you have control over... downstream (incoming) is whatever's heading your way.

I've got an RPT300 behind a Netscreen 5gt with the latest updates. I have 8 static IP's and do MIP's to the various servers/pc's behind the firewall. MIP's make 1:1 relationship between the public and private IP's and allow me to get granular in my security policies. They work great... except for my RTP300.

For testing purposes I've had my firewall policy for the RTP300 set ANY ANY allowing all traffic to and fro. What happens is this.. I get dialtone and can dial out just fine but my voice can't be heard on the other end and the dialtones from the phone buttons don't get processes. I've tried several different phones and had no luck.

Any ideas?

I also recently signed up for Vonage and was mailed the rtp300, set up was easy, everything is working great, no static, no dropped calls, no echos, no high phone bills anymore...24.99 a month ...I love it.
from reading other posts seems like older user's of Vonage without the rtp300, should get an rtp 300 and that may fix some issue's you are having.
Lol Lol Cool Surprised
