The RTP300 is a much better ATA than the RT31P2 but the routing capabilities are about the same.

Voice is mmmmmmmmmmmmm good with the RTP300.

Get yourself a good router with QOS and let it do the routing and just use the Vonage device for your phone service. Ever since Ive done this Ive had excellent results.

So if I was to add a second line (need to for work) and singed up for a new account, will I get a RTP300??

What is a good router with QOS?

Even though I'm not having any issues, would I be able to trade in my RT31P2 for the RT300?

Well, they won't replace it unless there's something wrong with it <hint, hint>. You can read all about the various problems commonly encountered with the RT31P2 on the forum.

I just signed up with Vonage and received my adapter a couple of days ago. At first I was a little disappointed that the router was a Linksys but after plugging the RTP300 up and now using it for a couple of days I can say that the voice quality is even better than my pots line had been and its operation has been flawless. Well pleased with both the RTP300 and Vonage. Thanks!!

Hi! I'm new to the forum and new to Vonage. I just signed up with Vonage last weekend and received my hardware yesterday. It's the RT31P2, not the RTP300! Cry

In the few hours I've had it up and running, it works well, but an annoying low-level static sound is heard most of the time. It doesn't hinder the conversations, but it is noticeable. From what I've read here on the forum, the new RTP300, despite it's few bugs because it's so new, is MUCH quieter.

How can I get one of the new RTP300's without any hassle? And, would whoever I speak with at Vonage be able to tell me for certain that I would be sent an RTP300 in exchange for the RT31P2?

Welcome wired and commsec to the forum!
I believe if you call them and tell them about the static sound etc you may be able to get them to replace it with a 300..

Does anyone else or has anyone else upgraded to the 300 from the Cisco ATA. Is it worth it to do so. Right now I have my own linksys router and the Cisco ATA is outside it on a 5 port switch so its full speed to the cable modem and the internet. I have some issues but not many and was wondering if there really is a performance enhancement on a newer model. I've been in the game since the beginning and don't know anyone new enough to the game to compare new stuff. A router model would be nice when I go on vacation but many hotels have only wireless now anyway. Question

I'm so glad to see posts that mention the same exact issues I have with RT31P2: frequent dropped internet connection, bad voice quality.
I just spent 2 hours straight on the the phone with MANY people at Vonage before I could finally get them to ship me a RTP300. They are still in stock.
It sounds like the RTP300 is much better after reading the posts.
Word of caution: If you hookup with a support person with an Indian accent, good luck to you!!
