I've received an email from a Vonage tech that a fix for the echo on the TI Linksys adapters (such as my WRTP54G) will be available next week. He says there are around 80 bugs in the TI chipset that is used in the Linksys devices that TI will be ironing out over the next few months. Right now, the echo is the only one that I care about and it is great if this gets fixed.
There is another thread talking about the same problem on the RTP300 located here:

I got the same reply mentioning the 80 bugs. I thought I was special. |

Could someone possibly share what some of the 80 bugs fixed are besides the echo? |

I wish I knew. But from the email, it sounds as if the next upgrade will only address the echo problem and the other bugs will be fixed over the next few months. Here is an exact quote from the email:

Does anyone have any idea what the firmware revision might be that would contain the fix?
I haven't been paying attention to the versions and have no idea when I've been updated.
FYI, I'm currently at 1.00.43
What's everyone else at?
Thanks! |

Currently at 1.00.43 here, so maybe next weekend's Firmware Friday. |

You're at the latest. Hopefully the next version will have the echo fix.
Can't wait! |

After weeks of fighting the echo on the caller's line, I think Vonage has found a temporary solution. I just got off the phone with Vonage and he swapped my active phone line from Line 1 to Line 2 on the RTP300. Since then I don't hear an echo when I call my Vonage phone. Before this, all calls had an echo on the other end.
The rep I spoke to told me that there were in fact bugs that TI was working on for this router, but that the Line 1 - Line 2 switch is the current workaround for the echo. This may or may not work for everybody, but it's worth a shot. As far as I can tell only a Vonage rep can do it.
I'm using a Linksys RTP300 (firmware 1.00.43) connected directly to an SB4100 cable modem (Comcast), and a Panasonic KX-TG2420 2.4 gHz phone. |

Since a Vonage rep put my RT31P2 into "line 2" mode to attempt to fix the white noise issue (which didn't work), my RT300 has been in "Line 2" mode since it's inception into my house. I have an echo every now and then.
So much for this hopeful solution.

Hang in there - hopefully in two more days the echo will be behind us with new firmware! |
