I agree with outrun, the echo is still there, but it is MUCH better, and not nearly as consistent. Before the switch to Line 2, every caller heard an echo of the last half second of everything they said. Now only short, loud, staccato bursts of speech are echoed back, and they are much less noticeable.

I'm with you guys, eagerly awaiting the firmware fix this weekend <cross fingers>.

Did it get better by switching to physical line two or did it get better with the upgrade from 1.00.37 to 1.00.43? I am running on line one and it seemed to get a bit better when it upgraded. T-1 til firmware Friday!

I am using a linksys wrt54g v2 router... this router is about two years ago... I just updated the firmware to the latest firmware version. I am using the pap 2 adapter, which plugs by ehternet to the router. A wise choice so I don't need to have two routers. I looked in the fixes for the new firmware and it mentioned Voip fixes but did not mention what fixes they are referring to.. I hope it was the echoing.... the echo usually only happens when I or the other party is using a cordless phone....
wired phone to wired phone never echoes.
I think the echo occurs because it is going throug two digital to analog conversions with a wireless phone.. first the adapter is converting the digital packets to analog.,... then once t he wireless base gets the analog signal it converts again to digital to the handset where it is again convering from digital signal to analog.

I actually have the Linksys WRT54GP2 router with firmware 1.29 any clue if they are going to be patching this router as well. I especially have problems with my wireless connection destabilizing. The only way to restabilize is to reboot the router.

The original Motorla adapter I had was replaced by Vonage with a Linksys RTP300 because the Motorola was dropping network traffic. Ever since then, callers complain of a very annoying echo on either of my lines.

I have been through all sorts of "test" (read: trying to prove that the problem is not Vonage) with tech support. Nothing has helped.

My firmware is 1.00.43, which according to linksys.com, is current.

I am getting very frustrated.

Linksys.com is wrong. The current version is 1.00.50, and the reverse echo problem was fixed on 1.00.47 (which was not a general release...it was only provided to people who called and complained about the reverse echo)

Call Vonage and have them push 1.00.50 to you. It should have happened automatically by now; can't say why it didn't.

You're absolutely right; thanks! Smile I searched and found a place to get 1.00.50 and upgraded it myself. It's stunningly pathetic that Vonage not only didn't automatically upgrade this unit (it was shipped to me last week with .43 on it), but tech support didn't even bother trying to do this when I called about this issue. In fact, the ticket is still open, Rael never called me back. Sad

Good thing we have this forum.
