testyourvoip.com results: 1.0. I'd better forget the pony express, too.
When I signed up, I was getting better than 90kbps, top quality. Now, about 1-2 months later, I can't even dial out. Receiving is fine. Noone can hear me, though.
Does Time Warner block Voip? They have a new Voip product... |

Interesting..Have you called TW to see if there is an official "issue" in your area? I would call them just as a normal highspeed issue, have them try to troubleshoot it, then talk about Vonage at the end of the call and see what their reaction is.. |

When I quit bittorrent, my settings changed dramatically...
My score from testyourvoip.com is now hovering around 4.0+/-. Vonage's speed test is yielding around 100kbps upload and 4.8mbps download.
Wow. Anyone else using bittorent and Vonage? |

There is your issue...Vonage uses a good amount of upstream recommending at least 90 kbps, so if you have bittorrent going constantly that is why you are dropping down so low. |

Yea any peer to peer clients will chew up your bandwidth I do suggest closing bittorent down when making calls or changing the bandwidth usage that Vonage uses. |

Isn't TW's Voip service rebranded AT&T Callvantage or did they release their own? |

Hmm, I think it's something like "Digital Phone". Catchy. I love internet hype.
I'm upset about this bittorrent business. Am I expected to watch commercial tv now? AND pay for it? Cable companies get paid by the ad companies, and we pay them for service, and we have to watch ads. What a scam. We are all frogs in boiling water in a zero sum game. |

TW-Roadrunner standards have been 5mbps/down and 360kbps/up for some time now. Perhaps you have issues with your main connection, modem, router, etc. I'd put in a service call to TW to check it out. |

Similar problems today, not running bittorrent or anything simliar. only 1 machine running on the network (this one).
I tested my upload speed using independent tests (speakeasy, etc.). I'm getting 400kbps uploads avg with independent tests 4.8 mbps dl.
Vonage says my upload is 14kbps.
What the !!! ?
I think it is telecom wars, but if anyone else has less cynical ideas, please feel free! |
