Hello all,
I just signed up and finally made the switch. Two questions off the bat:
1. I signed up through the website. Will they send me the newest RTP-300 or an older box?
2. Can i just run this new wire into my basement, diconnect the incoming land line from the 'dipersion panel' and replace it with the new cable connecting to my Vonage box? It is a small spiltter in the basement to connect all phone lines in the house.
I'm ready to go and pumped! Well, not pumped but pretty excited |

According to admin dconnor, Vonage has gone back to shipping the RT31P2 . You should get a confirmation email from Vonage indicating what device they will send you though.
If you isolate your home phone wiring from the external land line and plug your Vonage ATA into any available phone jack, you should be good to go (basically, the phone signal is distributed throughout your home phone wiring like water through a pipe). |

As of last night, they're still shipping the RT31P2 routers out. It sounds like they'd prefer to send out the RTP300 routers, but because of the shoddy firmware the first ones had, they were getting too many complaints about them, so switched back to the RT31's. Vonage said they'd return to shipping the RTP300 adapters out as soon as the new firmware proves itself over the next couple of weeks. My personal preference is for the RTP300, but I just use it as a voice adapter and don't use the router portion. That said, there's thousands of RT31 devices out there being used every day and people are quite happy with them. |

Weird, they sent me a RTP300 and I ordered service on 8/10/05. I think it works fine. |

I'm going to try out Vonage and they're shipping the RTP300. Hope everything works well, after reading some of the problems on this forum I'm not sure if I made the right choice. |

Yea once they straighten out the firmware issues on the RTP300 I'm sure those will be the normal being sent out. |

I just tried to get them to push me out a 300 instead of another 31P2. The gentleman I spoke with at first said that is what they normally ship now, but since I originally received a 31P2 that is what I was flagged for in the system! He also said that he has never heard of a 31P2 just "dying" at all. Told him that I was an active participant here on the forums and that others have had the 300's sent as a replacement., and he said hold on let me ask my supervisor. Then he came back and said that true, only the 31P2's are being shipped. There were too many issues with the 300's he said and they need more mass market testing. I told him that the new firmware seems to take care of it, so I would like one anyways and he said no go. Oh well! |

Is you RT31P2 currently working? If so why fix what is not broken? But if you need a new RTP300 I would just wait till they get all the bugs out of it first. |
