Just got my number transfered to Vonage. Did the whole house hookup and now I can't make outgoing calls to anyone outside of Vonage. Tested and it works for calls within Vonage.

When I bring up the router page, and go to voice, it shows the line status of seized. Is this correct? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Yep. Same here.

I hate to say this, but I'm glad it happened to someone else too.

Bad news is that there seems to be no way to 'unseize' it. I tried re-flashing to new BIOS and to old BIOS and no go.

Finally had them move it to line 2, but with the 1.00.37 firmware, I had a big series of clicks on the line.

Flashed it back to 1.00.29 and the clicks went away...

Suffice it to say, Vonage has really screwed the pooch on this router. They are about 2 days from losing me as a customer.

Seized means that there is a phone off-hook somewhere (or at least the router thinks as such). Disconnect it from your internal house phone wiring, reboot the router, and try it with just a single phone connected to it. If you didn't do the house wiring correctly, you can fry the Vonage router.

I don't think it is my home wiring, it is original to the house and I have never had any problems. I will try the 2 port though and see what happens there. Having just started with Vonage I am not ready to give up on them, I may just give up on this router.

Thanks
Andy

"Original to the house" -- Even more reason why it'd be questionable.

Why would that make it a possible problem? In the 10 years I have lived in this house it was never a problem, so why would it magically become a problem as soon as I went Voip?

Because the adapters aren't engineered to drive the wiring for the whole house. Little shorts that the phone company sneers at can drive this equipment nuts.

Also, are you certain that you disconnected the telco when you did the whole house thing?

Yes, I disconnected it at the main box outside.

Are you sure that's the only place the phone lines enter the house? At my old house, there were 2 service entrances for the phone lines, and they weren't well marked.

Yes, I am certain.

I am still getting a series of four to five beeps when I pick up the phone. I know that I don't have any unheard messages. What else could be causing this?

Thanks
Andy
