One thing that I noticed over the last couple of days is that the "Phone 1" light on my RTP300 blinks about every 3 seconds when the phone is not in use. I may not remember correctly, but is it supposed to do that? I thought that the light was solid when not in use, but blinked rapidly when I was using the phone.

Don't know if it is related, but it also has started to take about 3 seconds to get a dial tone when I pick up the phone. I've been experiencing some echo problems the last couple of days, so I don't know if that is related...

I've tried rebooting the RTP300, using different phones and phone cords, as well as using the RTP300 with different ISP's. Nothing I can thing of trying seems to help.

apparently the rtp300 and wrtp54g use a slow blink on the phone light when you have voicemail waiting. are you sure the 3 second dialtone pause isn't stutter tone?

Thanks, you were 100% on the money! I wish there was an RTP300 manual available...

I got a voicemail a couple of days ago and I listened to the emailed wav file, but never did anything with the message at vonage.com. I deleted it at vonage.com, and immediately my phone 1 light stopped blinking and I get dial tone as soon as I pick up the phone.

This is a perfect example of why this forum was one of the main reasons that I chose Vonage over AT&T CallVantage. Smile

Which phones are you using? I've heard of some people having echo problems with some of the digital Panasonic cordless phones, but I think these problems probably would occur with a land line and these phones as well due to the delays they have in encoding and decoding the audio from analog to digital and back again.

I've tried a few phones (all connected directly to the RTP300):

  • KXTC1890B (dual line 900mhz cordless)
  • KXTC1891B (dual line 900mhz cordless)
  • Lucent 9130 (single line 900mhz cordless)
  • AT&T 210 (single line corded)


Assuming you mean the echo problem, It seemed to improve somewhat when I changed the bandwidth saver back to 90 Kbps from 50 Kbps (was trying to get fax to work). Once I did that, I could no longer hear the echo when calling my to/from my home POTS lines, but I spoke to someone who called from a PBX today and they said they could still hear an "obnoxious" echo.

This caller is my main contact at my largest client, so I'm hoping to come up with a resolution.

I could also try sticking a DSL filter on there for the heck of it...

Check your voice mail , when the light blinks slowly on wrtp54g.
This indicates an voice mail pending (new) on that line.
Getting voice mail should remove the blinking.
