Need to know how to install VOIP

Okay, my parents bought the Vonage service and now they want me to install it because I am "the computer guy".

Now, I've only heard about VOIP and its uses but never thought much about it. So I don't know how to install this thing, I got the router and everything they sent but they want me to install it TO MAKE IT WORK THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE.

Frankly, I am not proficient with rewiring a bunch lines and I am a bit concerned about my online performance since I like online gaming.

Now, is there a way to make it work through the house? Like running a telephone splitter into the router and wiring it to different rooms? Or do I have to go outside and rewire the phone box?

Also, how bad will this affect my online performance? I use Comcast Cable.

Installation:

If you are the computer guy, read How to Distribute VoIP Throughout a Home and see if that doesn't give you the information you need. I suspect you will feel a lot more comfortable once you understand that phone lines are pretty simple. You will need to take the information there and apply it to your own situation.

Will Vonage be the only phone or will it be line 2 with POTS on line 1
Do you have an available pair to use Vonage on all your jacks
Do you have structured wiring or is your phone system daisy chained

Performance:
With broadband from Comcast you should have plenty of space to game and have a VoIP conversation. However, as always, you are limited by the aggregate amount of traffic in your neighborhood. If your neighborhood is already slow then you may have additional problems.
