I have two issues that tech support can not help me with. I am posting as a last resort, 4 phone calls past the fact and with ping plotter running for some days, showin no irregular activity.
Note: ATM is in front of the router.
1. Whenever I leave my computer logged in to the ednokey network via emule client or edonkey client i find that a few hours later my internet connection has been dropped and atm provides me no dial tone. I don't think this has anything to do with large amount of internet traffic because i can upload huge files and download huge files in the gigabytes via ftp fine. I have read on the broadband messageboard that the atm doesnt standup well to port scans. But i can not confirm that this is the reason.
2. When not using Edonkey network, most things seem to be fine, although occasionally i get a fast busy when i try to dial anyone and i must reset the atm again, although at this time internet connectivity lose does not occur.
Someone with any sliver of info about this please let me know. Thanks![/b] |

I have been a Vonage user for 2 months now and I have the same problem with dropped connection. I have yet found a solution. I do not have a separate router, only have the vt-1000 connected to a motorola cable modem. I have tryed port forwarding but all that did was get my high ID back. I still lose connection. The only thing I have been told so far is that the vt-1000 is cheap and can not handle the heavy traffic of the edonkey network. If you find anything that works please post on this forum, I am sure there are many others with this same problem! |

Since you have so much bandwidth to download big files, you can put your ATA behind your router. You don't need the QoS function with all your bandwidth. This would likely fix your problem. |

I had the same problem when I had the ATA in front of my router, so I moved it back behind my router and it's working great.
Even with cablemodem (around 2200/300) I find it's good enough without the QoS.
One thing I did take care to do was to plug all my internal devices into a switch before the router so that none of my internal network traffic is competing with Vonage for any cycles on my router. |

After spending upwards of 3 hours on the phone with Vonage they have shipped me a new atm, which i will now be testing. I have over the past week or so, come to the coclusion that the vt1000 atm simply stinks.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I've tried to place the ATM behind my router to no avail. I have a Dlink-614+ and it appears that i can not get it to work behind the router. God knows why. Yes, i've fowarded proper ports to proper ip.
Again, anyone who has talked to Vonage about this problem and has gotten any sort of resolution please let me know. My number is abut to be ported and i can not afford my phone to simply go off the hook without my knowing. Thanks again! |

I believe my MTA was broken. Upon recieving my replacement MTA i have been able to set it up behind my router just fine and all is well.
p.s. in my previous post i referred to it as an ATM, god darn, i wish it was an atm. |
