Just as a note to all, I have tried it on both a SB 4200 and the SB 5120 and that was never a factor in my problems with the RT31P2 router just doing resets as it were. I have had the BR700 running for five days now and I have never lost phone service on the RT31P2 that sits behind the BR700 and the BR700 has never crashed. I am even considering going back to my Motorola VT1005V and just using it as an ATA for the Vonage phone service in place of the RT31P2. Let the router do its thing and let the phone adaptor do its thing.

Ok guys not really all that computer literate, but here is my present setup ethernet cable runs from connection at back of computer to Vtech 8100 first, then another ethernet cable takes the signal from the 8100 to my modem. As I see it the problem is with in the 8100 dropping a signal this usually only takes place as I am using the internet. My hope is that by using the motorola router thats coming it will take care of this problem since it will be rerouting instead of the Vtech.

Well, I installed the RTP300 this morning. No problems with installation. So far so good. It fixed my background noise problem. It also seems to have fixed another issue I was having with idle telnet sessions locking up after 10 or 15 minutes. This issue was unrelated and something I could have lived with but it's an added bonus now. And so far no automatic reboots for no reason though it's probably too early to tell for sure. If the reboot problem is fixed, I think we have a winner (RTP300).

I already like this router much better than the RT31P2. One odd thing I noticed with the RTP300 is that whenever my phone rings now, the ring tone length for each ring isn't as long as it was with the RT31P2 or with a landline for that matter. Not that it matters. I just thought it was interesting.

Also, this router has 4 computer ports instead of 3 so now I don't need a hub or switch anymore to connect everything I have.

Yep, the issue about the ringing is common to the RTP300. I'm not sure why Vonage hasn't changed it yet, but in theory that'll be part of the new firmware update.

Well, Vonage Customer support came thru and helped me to change back to my old Motorola VT1005V telephone adaptor in place of the RT31P2. Guess what? All of a sudden, the caller ID started working the way it should. Ever since I got the RT31P2, the caller ID has had a "1" in front of everthing. In the US, Caller ID is only 10 digitd not 11 degits. Well my phones and other devices now show the numbers properly. I argued with tech support for hours about this issue but all they could say was that caller ID is 11 digits not 10 and has always been. Well on the Motorola box it is only 10 digits and that is what US phone companies always deliver. I wonder if any one els has noticed this? Any way, Life is much better now that the RT31P2 is out of the picture. I am a Motorola shop with a Motorola SB5120 Cable modem, A Motorola BR700 router and a Motorola VT1005V telephone adaptor. I am not saying it is the best there is but it the best I have ever had it working.

Received my BR700 yesterday installed along with my SB4200 modem and Vtech 8100-2 phone. Everything is working and so far seems to have taken care of the reset problem, but now seem to have lost my download speed which was 2.7 mbits and now is 579 kbits. Is there something I am not setting up properly?

Thanks, Lipps1948

The line was a little buzzy when I started with Vonage because the powersupply for the motorola ATA must have been out of phase with the power supply my phone uses. They sent me one of the first RT31P2s as a replacement and it has worked very well. I noticed that it doesn't get impacted as much by heavy internet usage. I replaced my Linksys BEFSR41 with the RT31P2 to take advantage of QoS. I don't notice it dropping VPN connections. I did upgrade its firmware at one point. I was happy at this point but things got much better when I traded in my old motorola 4000 unit for the 5120.
