Post subject: Bay Alarm with Vonage
Hi I just got
Vonage
about a week ago when I noticed that my Bay Alarm console was displaying COMM. FAILURE. I sent out a test dial but Bay Alarm didn't receive it. They are coming to my home tomorrow to take a look at it. I connect my
vonage
phone adapter to a phone jack so every phone jack in the house has
Vonage
. Could someone give me another solution to the issue? Bay Alarm also sent me a newsletter about 3 days ago with a topic "
VoIP
may interrupt alarm service" Please send me any suggestions. Thank you!

Post subject: VoIP may interrupt alarm service - solutions...
based on other postings a lot of
vonage
customers are using either alarm.com or nextalarm to solve the problem you are having. the main difference is that alarm.com uses a wireless connection to send alarms and nextalarm uses your broadband connection to send alarms. alarm.com is more expensive per month but is more reliable because you can't cut a wireless connection and it comes with battery backup. nextalarm is less expensive monthly but you may have to spend money on backup power supplies to make sure your internet connection still works if you lose power.
www.alarm.com
or
www.nextalarm.com.
i'm in the process of deciding between the two services myself...
