I got Vonage a month a go and for the most part it's been pretty good. However during calls ever once in a while(Maybe every 10minutes) it sounds like the person is studdering and I can't understand them for let's say 3 seconds.
First is this normal?
This prompts my second question, I am not comfortable enough with the service to use it for business calls at home so I was considering getting Time Warner Digital phone on my other line.
My question is will Time Warner Digital Phone and Vonage work well together? I am also a little nervous about getting Time Warner and am rather considering just getting an unlimited plan with SBC.
Any help or real life experiences that you can help me out with? |

First- TW digital phone uses it's on phone adaptor and would require you to have to split your broadband/cable feed in order to operate TW and Vonage seperately.
Second- I don't know if this will cause service issues due to bandwidth requirements for using both services at the same time.
Lastly the shuttering if at the beginning of a call is your voicemail but if it occurs during a call the Vonage tech support should be able to correct this with a phone call to them. |

Thanks for the reply, the shuttering is actually takes place during calls. It does not happen every time but when it does its usually evey few minutes and I can not hear the other person as their voice shutters or bogs down..... |

If you have Time Warners internet, it could be them. I have found SBCs DSL while lower in speed is actually more reliable with less latency. I just recently switched back to DSL, because TW was having problems and admitted to me that they have had red lights flashing on their routers all over town for the last several weeks which tells me they arent worried about fixing it. And the DSL costs less too. |

I actually do have Time Warner but the cable speed seems great and consistent. |

My Vonage works great with TW.
Maybe I should not jinx it. |

Time warners Voip uses the same codecs, It just goes to the point of the local main office then is transferred to the pots system. They give a different modem that includes the ata and a battery backup incase the power goes out. They also have e911 setup already. They have higher price that does not include voice mail. I notice a difference between tw and sbc. All my Vonage calls are a lot clearer now. No more jitter or breaking up. TWs internet was good but Its what goes on in the background that you dont see but you hear it. Packet loss, latency. Supposedly their Voip doesnt travel over the same internet "channel", the modem sends it out on a different sub network set up just for the phone. |

I guess what I am sort of wondering is should I expect my TW Digital phone to be much different in quality from my Vonage? Our should I just keep a regular SBC phone line for my important line? |
