I just hooked up my Vonage box... internet is working great...

pick up phone - get dialtone. I dial, then nothing. No ringing, then just a fast busy.

any ideas?

This worked a few days ago? Needed to rearrange office

The dialtone is generated by the Vonage adapter itself, not the Vonage central equipment. On the RTP300, the dial tone will appear as soon as the phone circuits are working inside it (after it's already seen the 'net at least once in its life), but this doesn't necessarily mean it's connected to Vonage. On the older Vonage adapters, the dial tone usually won't appear until the adapter has connected to Vonage. What are the Phone LEDs showing? You should see the line LED illuminated steadily if the adapter is signed onto Vonage. I'd say unplug the adapter for a few seconds then plug it back in and see what the lights tell you.

I have the Linksys RT31P2, the line "1" light is solid, when I pick up the phone, it blinks (like normal)

The status screens on the linksys show idle, then calling... i never get the ringing.

I have to dial 606 ( my old area code i used ) to get a hold of people. But the area code Vonage gave me was like 859 :S. But just dial whatever your area code was before and tryin callin out! Hey i sound stupid but its worth a shot!

I agree with the post above. You might try 10-digit dialing. If that does not work, try 11-digital dialing (1 + area code + phone number). This may also sound stupid, but I had some weird provisioning problem on my account once, and it caused symptoms similar to yours. If I dialed a 1 before the number everything worked great. Then I called Vonage, and they had to fix something on their end...

Tried all that already... The other odd thing.. incoming calls ring, and the CID shows, but then it doesn't allow me to answer...

We moved. Using a neighbors ISP connection until our cable modem is installed. Same ISP as before (when working).

(from internet)....

Internet -> BEFW11S4 (public IP for WAN, 192.168.1.1 LAN) -> WET11 (192.168.1.225 LAN) (WET 11 is a wireless bridge between his house and mine) -> RT31P2 (WAN is 192.168.1.111, LAN is 192.168.15.x).

The BEFW11S4 is setup to have the 192.168.1.111 (public IP of the Vonage box) in the "DMZ" - this will allow it to use all ports...

The RT31P2 works for all aspects of internet connectivity. Line 1 light is solid, status shows my Vonage phone # as Online, and call status is Idle.

When I pick up my phone and dial (any number) - it sits dead for a while. During this time - RT31P2 status shows "calling". After about 30 seconds - fast busy. Same for local, 1-800, and non-local area codes...

For incoming calls, the phone does ring... so, the box must be talking to vonage... but when I pick my phone up - it's dead. And the "caller" still hears ringing...

I'm baffled. I would think if the network setup were blocking something - it wouldn't work at all...

(btw - the working setup before was just RT31P2 to the internet.. nothing in between.)
