I had to reboot tonight and set up
Vonage
again. I tried to go into step 2: COnfigure Router. The website is coming up as: The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.
Are they having technical difficulties? Is there another router IP address I can use?
I am unable to run the software set up and it says that it can not detect my router, and hence I can not use my phones right now. My internet is up and running and no problems with any other websites.
I am using WINXP and have the RT31P2 and after reading some other posts tonight, will be seeing about the RP300 replacement (I think that's the one).
Thanks in advance!

does
Vonage
send out used routers? i dont see any reason why that address wouldnt work unless you have your computer hooked up to another router, instead of directly to the RT31P2.

This was a brand new one- I had the

you don't need the cd or anything like that. it should be plug n play more or less. explain your network setup.

It is a single computer hooked up through my Comcast cable/internet line. Like I said, no problems before until I reboot. I was going in to configure the router in order to get to the screen that asks me to type in admin for the name and password and the website is not working.
Here is the reply I got from
Vonage
this morning (which did not help, they thought I transposed a number but I have not been):
Dear Toby Hilden,
Thank you for contacting Customer Care.
The IP address of the router is 192.168.15.1 but not 192.168.51.1. So
please follow the instructions given below to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Open internet explorer from one of the computers connected to the RT31P2 router and in the address bar, type
http://192.168.15.1
and
press Enter.
2. Enter "admin" in both username and password fields when it prompts and click on "Ok". 3. Click on the tab "Administration" and click on sub-tab "Factory Defaults". Now select "Restore factory defaults" as "yes" and click on "Save Settings". It should display "Settings are Successful". 4. Then it will ask to enter User name and password. So enter as follows User name : user Password : 7756112 5. Once this is done, disconnect power cable from all the devices in the network which includes modem, router and RT31P2. 6. Connect the appropriate power cable to the cable modem. 7. Wait about two minutes for the cable modem to boot up, before continuing. 8. Connect the power cable, provided with the Phone Adapter, to the
power port on the Phone Adapter.
9. Wait about two minutes for the phone adapter to boot up before continuing. 10. Open Internet Explorer and in the address bar type "192.168.15.1" and hit enter 11. Enter admin as user name and password when it prompts and click "OK"
Now click on the "Status" tab and then on the "router" sub-tab, now check for the Internet IP address, If you get an IP address, try to go online. If the Internet IP address is all zeroes, click on DHCP Renew. If you get an IP address, try to go online.
If the IP Address is still all zeroes, then Click on "Setup" tab and then click on "MAC Address Clone" sub-tab. Select "Enable" under MAC Clone Service and then click on "Clone". Now click on "Save Settings".
Now click on the "Status" tab and then on the "router" sub-tab, now check for the Internet IP address, If you get an IP address, try to go online. If the Internet IP address is all zeroes, Click on DHCP Renew. If you get an IP address, try to go online.
12. If you are able to go online, connect a telephone to the "Phone 1" port of the Phone Adapter using a standard phone line. 13. Wait at least five minutes for the Phone Adapter to boot up. The
Phone Adapter's lights will remain off or blink until it is fully
connected to the
Vonage
network. There may be updates that need to be
downloaded such as new firmware or changes to your features. Do not
interrupt the configuration process by unplugging the power or lifting
the receiver on your phone during the startup process. Interruption of
the startup may result in interruption of service.
14. Once the Phone Adapter's status light is off, the Phone Adapter is ready to use. 15. Pick up your telephone receiver and listen for a dial tone. If you hear a dial tone, you can start making and receiving calls.
We hope this has assisted you in resolving the issue. If after
following these above steps you are still experiencing trouble, please
reply to this email and we will be sure to assist you further.
We value you as a customer and are dedicated to quality customer
service.
Regards,
Kanchan.
Customer Care.

so your network setup is cable modem (which one) to the lnksys rt31p2 to your computer right?
what are the lights on the front of the rt31p2 doing? there is no need to "set up
Vonage
again" after a reset of the router. what all have you done?

The lights on the router are as follows:
Power: Solid green
Ethernet 1: Flashing Green
Ethernet 2 & 3 Dark, not using
Phone 1: Dark (Phone line plugged in)
Phone 2: Dark, not using
Internet: Flashing green
I am using the Linksys RT31P2 and the modem I am using is Motorola Surfboard SB5120.
On a side note, I am unable to simply connect to the internet via the cable modem using only my ethernet connection. I had to go in and set it up suing the USB cable. I then bridged the router to the cable modem and then the computer. This set up worked fine for the past 6 weeks, it wasn;t until I rebooted that I can not get
Vonage
to work.
I have followed the steps their customer care sent to me again and it still does not work.

ok, I still don't have a clear picture of your setup. just write it out.
cable modem -> rt31p2 -> computer, or whatever you have it as.
are the phone lights blinking at all? try watching them for about 15 seconds.

I'll do my best (and thank you in advance for you patience and help)...
Cable line goes into cable modem. I then have the USB cable going from the cable modem directly to the computer for the internet connection which works fine.
I then have one ethernet cable going from the cable modem to the router via the internet plug in.
The ethernet 1 is plugged into the ethernet card on the back of the computer.
As mentioned before, this worked for the past 6 weeks until the reboot last night.
I have watched the phone lights and they are completely black. As a precaution I plugged the phone line into phone2 and still nothing.
