ok, wait, you have usb going from the computer to the cable modem AND ethernet from the computer going to the rt31p2? that's extremely messed up. I can almost guarantee you what happened when you reset was make the rt31p2 lose its IP from comcast and the computer grabbed it off of the usb connection. since you don't have two ip's from comcast, the rt31p2 can't connect to the internet anymore. so here's what you need to do...just plug the ethernet on the cable modem to the wan/internet port on the rt31p2, then plug the ethernet from the computer to one of the 3 ports on the back of the rt31p2. you'll probbaly want to power everything off, then plug the cable modem back in, wait a few, then the rt31p2, wait a few, then the computer. everything should now work. |

Hi Toby
I think I know what your problem is. You say you have the usb cable from your modem going to the computer. This is incorrect. You should have the ethernet from the cable modem going to the Vonage router and an ethernet cable from the computer to ethernet port 1.
The way you have it set up the computer will get its IP address from the cable modem which will almost certainly NOT be in the same 192.168.15.? range which it will need to be to be able to see the router. If you set it up the way I have suggested the computer will get an IP address in this range as it will be supplied by the router not the cable modem. |

so let me get this..
cable modem --> Computer USB and cable modem --> Router ??
Why?
I think what happens is you aren't paying for 2 IP addresses and the cable modem can only supply 1 address to ya. The correct setup should be: cable modem --> router router --> computer ethernet card |

Didn't see an answer and didn't want to make a new thread for this question so here it goes.
wireless internet "modem" > WRT54G > computer
My RTP300 is connected to the WRT54G
Should I be able to enter 192.168.15.1 and get into the RTP300 router setup screen? |

no, not without setting up remote admin or connecting a computer to the rtp300. it would be a different ip obviously. |

OK, so there's no way to check my firmware version without directly connecting to this router, right?
Thanks,
Eric |

yes by setting up remote admin. you have to connect a computer to it but just once. then you can access it throughout the network afterwards. |
