Hi. Can someone definitively come forward with a confirmation about setting up a VPN with a Vonage device?
It allows for pptp passthrough, but I'm gathering that's only for outbound VPN connections. Will any VOIP/router device supplied by Vonage support INBOUND pptp and IP Protocol 47 (GRE)?
Thanks, Nels
My device: RT31P2
Firmware: 1.29.00 |

Nels, I called Vonage support and got past L1 in India to a L2 guy in NJ. He said the only solution was to enable the DMZ function on the Vonage device and set my VPNing machine to that address. IT works.
Very sub-optimal because my laptop feels a little nekkid out in the 'net.

I enabled DMZ and my laptop on VPN works like a charm BUT I can not make VoIP calls now, Can oly receive those.
So I enable DMZ, use VPN and can only receive calls. Once I am done, I disable DMZ and then I can place and receive calls.
LinkSys said they will replace my router, but I wonder if this issue is there with ALL their wireless VoIP routers ?? |

Nels,
I am running WRTP54G with firmware 1.00.37.
No problems with VPN via IPSec. I do not have to enable DMZ.
Good luck,

I am not an expert in networking, is IPSec some software or some setting? If setting can you please tell how do I enable it in WRTP54G?
thanks in advance, |

ok, just checked
IPSec enabled, PPPoE disabled, PPTP Enabled
DMZ enable : VPN works, receive call, can NOT place
DMZ disabled : call receive/place ok, VPN does NOT work
I am not able to get both call and VPN to work together |
