PostPosted: Fri Aug 12, 2005 6:21 am    Post subject: WRTP54G : Comes up : Web page is accessible : Then reboots Reply with quote Back to top

Hi,

I have been reading about the WRTP54G and have been getting scared to death since I had asked for a WRAP54G with Vonage, I had asked for a friend to configure it and all went well (and then give it to me) .

Well the WRTP54G landed in its new home and I have been trying to keep it stable enough to configure it --- No success. I am able to access the web page , login and then it re-boots Sad

The WRTP54G was successfully configured before I changed location (a few calls were also made) so I know that the box is basically OK.

This is the sequence I see after power up:
1. Power light comes on (starts blinking)
2. Local Lan comes on
3. Phone light comes on
4. Internet light comes on starts blinking for a few long seconds
and then the box reboots and the same sequence starts.

I cant send it back to my friend to check again.

Any ideas on how to fix this. I am terrified of updating the image at this point since the box is rebooting and I don't want a dead brick router.

Please do help, I just need it stable enough to configure.

Regards
David

You might want to give Vonage tech support a call on this, as they might be able to access the router through an alternative way & not have it reboot on them. Another option would be to do a hard reset, but in the process, you will lose your configuration data on the router. If you want to proceed with this, just hold down the reset button on the back of the router for 5 seconds. (I believe the WRTP54G requires the use of a paperclip). What's special about your configuration? I'd imagine there's enough people on the forum who could walk you through configuring it.

I am actually travelling so Vonage support seems to too far out for me. I will try that first and any other thoughts will also be apprecitated.

i've had the same problem right after i upgrade firmware to 1.00.37. it's because of the adapterer. i changed my 12V 800mA adapter to a 12V 1A one, then it stops rebooting. take a try.

Hi All,

Thanks, It was a power supply problem. I stuck the WRTP54G into a lab power supply and kept it at a constant voltage 12V DC and it stopped rebooting, (the WRTP54G btw drains about .550 A at 12V when the Wireless is on - but not connected and the config pages are being used over the wired ethernet - no voice traffic)

David
