I have a router connected to the internet. My computer, various devices and the Motorola ATA Voip router all set behind this router that is the gateway to the internet.
I've read all the post and tried various settings, but how do you, for the love of god, connect to the ATA box?
It works when its in FRONT of the router, but behind the router, it shows up in the DCHP table for the router minus any host name it was assigned previously, but I cannot connect to it. It's driving me quite mad.
Any suggestions? I've read a ton of post, we should clear it up and have it in FAQ format so that all who seek this knowledge can be helped.
Thanks in advance Vonage Deities. |

In order to see the admin web page you must connect to it via the PC port. In addition you have to have an IP address that begins with 192.168.102.
There are two ways to do see the admin page in your scenario. One is to temporarily hook a PC directly up to the PC port of the ATA. The second method is a little more complicated.
Set up your router's lan/internal IP address to be 192.168.102.x (x = anything other than 1) and to assign out IP addresses in the 192.168.102.x subnet. Now you can plug both of your ATA's network ports into your router/hub. This will allow you to access 192.168.102.1 and still forward ports to the WAN side of the ATA for call. I have not set mine up this way but it should work.

Thanks for the help, but you know that it looks like you cant keep it reporting the proper host name after you switch back. It only reports the proper host name when you have a fix IP address or the ata box is in front of the router. |

If you set up a static route in your router config, that may help. Actually, My router (Lynksys befw11s4) automatically set the route since it was connected to the WAN Port, but I had to set a static route in order to see the Cable Modem's setup Page.
See your router documentation for information on how to do this. |
