Post subject: Problems transferring from Verizon Local Service
Has anyone else had a problem transferring a number from Verizon. I have sent many e-mails looking for an update and finally got one saying there was an order that was pending that prevented the transfer. I was told by Verizon that the order has been completed and now have not received any response from
Vonage
.
I just wanted to know if other people are having the same problems and how they resolved them.
Thanks!
Current Status: Transfer in Process
June 16, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
June 16, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
June 22, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier

Now I'm worried. I recently signed up with
Vonage
. My current provider is Verizon and my number transfer progess is:
August 1, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
August 2, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
August 4, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
Ijust hope I'm not still waiting 2 months from now.

Vonage
uses a thrid part to port numbers from other carriers....Verizon isn't the issue,
vonage
has issues with porting numbers from any carrier.
Not to give negative mojo, but today is my 123rd business day and still no number transfer. My loa was received Feb 23rd....At this point I quit.

Well, mojo or no mojo, my number transfer is moving along.
August 1, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
August 2, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
August 4, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
August 16, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
I just received an email from
Vonage
telling me that the transfer is scheduled for August 17, just 15 days after they received my LOA. But as they say, it's not over until the fat lady sings. Let's see what happens tomorrow.

On August 17, the transfer was completed with no problem. I received an email from
Vonage
confirming the transfer in the morning. Outgoing calls could still be made from the Verizon line until midnight and then the service was turned off. I am apparently luckier than others on this board because I have absolutely no complaints about this process. Everything seems to be working perfectly. Good luck to all the rest of you.

Like your title says.... Newbie, Get the facts straight before you speak. Verizon nor any other carrier don't want to lose there business and they aren't obligated by law to hand the number over to
Vonage
.
Oh before someone says "It is a FCC Regulation that Number must be ported." Let me tell you this,
Vonage
is not regulated by the FCC,
Vonage
considers themselves a Data Company not a Telephone Company. So hence since they don't fall under the FCC the "Telephone Companies" don't have to hand the number over.
Though I do suspect since
Vonage
uses 3rd Party Carriers to port over numbers is because the 3rd party carriers are regulated by the FCC. So the process might take a little longer then normal. And you sir waiting that many days have a better shot cancelling your current LoA and go with the eLoA process which is much faster.

um hmmm did I say anything about the FCC.....uh NO
did I say anything about
Vonage
not being a data company uh NO
did I say anything about the LAW to port #'s uh NO
Forget being a Newbie, try READING.
One, DUH, we know the FCC isn't under regulation to port numbers, this is a data company, I didn't say anything about the FCC.
Two, I'm not "waiting that many days", I've talked to
Vonage
reps and I did as I was instructed, don't cancel is what they said.
As I have all ready left
Vonage
more from their poor customer service, and poor communication it's not an issue anymore. The service was fine if they could have delivered what they promised by porting the number, forget the law, if a company says "we can do it" then they should follow through.
So get your facts straight.

Umm you try reading I didn't state you said anything about the FCC, I was saying that for a piece of infomation for everyone else. If it was directed at you I would have said directly to you. But let me explain it more simply for a simple mind.
Verizon DOES NOT have to give
Vonage
the number.
Do I have to get the 30ft Crayon out to draw a picture. Oh you already left
Vonage
.....Ok let me tell you this then...
Stop Trolling the forums....
