With a brand new Cisco adapter I can make a call, but when I hang up the line never closes. The next time I try to make a call I get the screaching sound of a line that has been left open. It's like I never hung up the phone.

Rebooting the adapter is the only way to close the line and get a dial tone again.

I have changed the phone wire from adapter to phone and have tried it using other phones. The result is the same - talk once and reboot in order to make or receive another call.

Have tech support change your phone ports and if that doesn't work have them overnight you a replacement.

and they own Sipura too... and practically own Cybertan (90% of CyberTan sales are to Linksys). So, there's lots of parts in the parts bins that they could use to build a voice adapter.

To answer the original poster's question, are you using your home's existing wiring or plugging the phones straight into the phone adapter? Most of the time something like this is posted, someone's plugging the phone adapter into their home's wiring, and there's something amiss with the wiring that they're not aware of. If multiple phones give you this problem when directly connected to the router, it's definitely a bad router and Vonage tech support will overnight you a new one.

I had the same problem...I hooked the router up Monday and I could make or receive one call then the LED for phone line one would continue blinking (I since figured out I only had to pick the line up and hang up to reproduce the problem). Last night I got escalated to 2nd level support and they fixed it. The Firmware was upgraded to 37 (previously 29), and they also made changes to the config on their end (he wouldn't give me the specifics). I had to unplug everything from the router in order for the firmware push from Vonage to work. The tech told me if the router was "busy" in any way the firmware wouldn't take....Don't know, but the push did take when I pulled the computer and the phone lines and only had the Cable Modem connected.

Hope this helps.

I managed to get an English speaking American on the phone today. It took some time but he changed something on their end and the problem was resolved.

hmm.. .37 sounds like a Linksys product rather than a Cisco product...

I'm still wondering where this guy got a brand new Cisco from.
