I have been trying to call a couple of toll free numbers yesterday and today (mostly to 800-PICK-UPS) and have noticed a lot of fast busy signals. When I call from my land line the call goes through without any problem. When I call one of the toll-frees to my office from my Vonage line the line is also producing a fast busy signal, from the land line the call goes through. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks, Keith |

Are you putting a "1" before the 800? |

I just called the UPS 800 number and went straight through. It was so fast it never even rang on my end. |

It only happened for a little while. It seemed like there was something going on within the Vonage switch. After a few hours it seems like the service was restored. |

Same here. For the longest time I was having trouble calling 1-800-FLOWERS. Funny thing, when I called the Vonage help line, I got the 'you're doing something wrong' attitude. Imagine my satisfaction when the Vonage dude called from his desk phone to prove that it works, and got a fast busy
He admited there was a problem. They did 'something' in the back end, like changing my 'server' or something. And it started working a day later.

How come Vonage gets away with this crap?!?!?! They either deactivate or screw up some how my frequesntly called toll-free numbers! I use overseas calling cards to call family and use tollfree number to access the service. I suspect Vonage tracks and blocks those numbers that it deems "over usage" I never had this problem with SBC. The toll free numbers works just fine with my cell phone at the same time ! Why do they do this... I'm planning to ditch Vonage if this is the service level they are going to keep to. It took me 7 months to switch from SBC. I asked for some refund never even bothered to reply to that point. Tollfree blocking will be the last straw. This is crappy S&Y(*&y service!! |

Oh, stop. I bet you Vonage doesn't actually carry the 800 calls anyway. If it's anything like their regular service, as soon as it hit's the toll free half of the network, it's handled by a CLEC.
Try looking around to see if you can find out who Vonage conatracts out to handle 800 calls. I bet it's THEM that are having the problem. I know it's NewYork-based. Try a Google search or something. |
