When receiving a call, my phones only give a "half ring". I turned off the ringer on all but two phones that each have an REN of 0.1b and the problem persists. I searched the forums and saw several references to having Customer Support up the ringer voltage. I tried calling both the 866-243-4357 and the 732-650-6699 customer service numbers this morning and neither answered within two minutes of ringing. I ended up sending e-mail to them, but figured I'd post here as well. Any ideas?

As per the sticky post's requirements:

I assume this is an RTP300? If so try turning off the firewall/NAT and see if the problem stops. If you do have an RTP300 and it's doing the routing for your PC's this will kill your internet connection until you turn this back on.

You mention "phones", but don't mention how they're connected? Are you using your house's internal wiring? If you can, disconnect all phone wiring from the phone adapter and just connect up a single phone to the adapter. If that phone experiences a problem, try another phone to rule out the phones or the adapter.

Um...which adapter do you really have? RT31P2 or RTP300? They're totally different animals. The techs have all sorts of info on the RT31P2 adapters and can change ringing voltage & patterns if need be with it. The RTP300 is another story, as it's brand new and they have very little documentation on it.

The modem is a RTP300.

I unplugged all of the cables and then plugged only one jack in and the incoming calls only give a quick, half-second ring.

The wiring is CAT5 throughout the house.

There are a total of 9 "live" jacks that lead out from the central phone hub:
1 - ringing cordless phone w/ answering machine base
2 - ringing cordless phone (remote phone from one above)
3 - ringing cordless phone
4 - ringing wired phone
5 - DirecTV (outbound only)
6 - DirecTV (outbound only)
7 - not used / no device connected
8 - not used / no device connected
9 - Security system (outbound only)

Can you plug a telephone straight into the RTP300 with all of the house phone wiring disconnected from the RTP?

I plugged a phone directly into the RTP300 and there was no difference; still half-rings on incoming calls.

Definitely the RTP300 then... sounds like you've either got a defective RTP or some screwy ring settings in there... You can try to do a factory reset of the router by going to:
http://<router-ip>/ (usually 192.168.15.1), then click on Administration, Factory Defaults. Check Yes for Restore Voice Factory Defaults, (might not hurt to reset the router itself to Factory settings as well, but this can be a pain if you have a bunch of things configured) click Save Settings.

It'll prompt for a username & password, try using:
Username: user
Password: tivonpw

Click Log-In, and it'll reset itself.

It says it takes 50 seconds for it to continue, but I'd suggest giving it a full 5 mins after it resets before trying to use the phone side of it.

Any idea which firmware you're running on your RTP? It should have been automatically updated to 1.00.37 when it was initially connected.

Restored voice settings to factory default; same thing.

Firmware = 1.00.37

Might just have to get used to the short rings, although the answering machine picks up after 3 which means I have to run like hell to answer the phone in time.

I wonder if the phone number port would have anything to do with it <shrug>

I would definetly call and have them change your port to see if that makes a difference. Before my RTP300, I had the RTP31P2 and Line 1 has a "noise" problem. Line 2 was clean. Perhaps something in the circuitry of line 1 is shorting out the ring.
