Being a world traveler, using the Softphone has saved me gobs of money . Recently I saw the new version of the ZyXEL WiFi phone, and figured that this would be a great idea. While I prefer using the X-PRO software (lots of options, such as conferencing, call transfer, which I both use), it's a pain in public situations and when you don't want to be obvious that you're using the net for telephone.
Anyway, I got the thing working, and it works great, except for one problem, I cannot access Vonage voicemail. It appears that the VM system does not recognize the DTMF tones from the ZyXEL (though my cell phone VM does recognize it ok).
I called ZyXEL tech support to get their input. This is where it gets interesting folks. As soon as I mentioned I was using this with Vonage's softphone service the said that they could not help me. Why? According to ZyXEL, Vonage has threatened to sue ZyXEL if it assists anyone with using the P2000 with softphone service!
Gee, you'd think that Vonage would be glad that people are using the service. I'm not asking them to support an unsupported configuration, I'm asking the hardware manufacturer for tech support. How dare Vonage interject their controls over a third party business transaction between a hard customer and the hardware producer!?!
As an aside, on using the P2000 for a week, while not perfect (what new gadget is?), it does a great job of making the softphone service readily availabe while traveling.
Any thoughts folks? |

I had the same problem with broadvoice. Here is the fix.
Logon to your P2000 using the zyXeladmin screen. Goto the PHONES setting and change the DTMF RELAY setting to "INBAND"
That should do it..... |

Are you using the p-2000 as a standalone device that connects directly to Vonage or are you using it just as a wireless phone for the Vonage softphone (meaning your laptop still has to be turned on and connected to vonage for the service to work)?
Thanks for your help

I am also having problems with the ZyXEL P2000w-v2. I can receive calls but I'm not able to send. I made this change b/c
I figured the DTMF was my problem but it didn't fix it.

It is not censorship, you have disrespected the site vonage-forum.com/ftopic1878.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="postlink">Rules

Forgive the unfortunate choice of words. I'm not trying to be cute now, I need some clarity. Are you reffering to talking about the url or the actual posting of the url, or both? ..... |

Could someone tell me if the phone you are talking about will work completely on a Vonage system using the softphone subscription. Where can I find more info on this. The manufacturers site doesn't give details about its application. |
