Is there anywhere on the internet where I can download the drivers/software for the linksys WRTP54G Router? The linksys site does not seem to have them. Thanks in advance.

You can get the latest firmware from LinksysInfo.org.

You don't need any drivers, and you can configure the router without the software CD.

Some folks are nervous at downloading the firmware for your router from a public site. Vonage sent me an e-mail the day after I setup my WRTP54G with this link to grab the update.

Well, let me ask this. Is a firmware update an absolute necessity when setting up this router for the first time?

I was under the impression that Vonage automatically pushed the 1.00.37 update... I know they do that with the RTP300.

It was for me. I had the .20 firmware when I bought mine last week and it was totally useless. It couldn't connect to Vonage and failed to register the connection so the phone was not usable. As soon as I installed the update, I was online with no problems at all.

And the amazing thing is that you can't find this by searching the Linksys technical support! You need to have the direct link.

Thanks for posting.

When I got my WRTP54G, it had firmware version 1.20. It automatically upgraded to 1.29, but not to 1.37. I had to do that one manually.

Several people on this forum say that their router upgraded automatically to 1.37, but it doesn't seem to consistently work for everyone. If you don't get it after a week or so, you best bet is probably to upgrade manually.
