Here's my setup: Comcast cable surfboard -> Netgear FS108 -> Motorola Voice Adapter and Netgear GS104. While I'm on the phone and I try to look at webpages, my voice drops to the person I'm calling and the webpages don't load. If I hang up, the web page loads, and I can call back, but the same thing happens.
The Comcast service is 3.0 down and 384 up. I've tried using just one of the Netgear switches, but the calls still get interrupted.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Vonage Technical Service isn't answering calls today (Jan 28th).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
David |

Wow that's strange.
I'd go and do a bandwidth test, at dslreports or broadbandreports or whatever it is. See if you're really getting the speeds that are advertised.
The other thing I'd do is go into your Vonage account and bump the call quality down to the lowest. I have mine set to 30K and nobody has complained yet.
Try moving the ATA in front of the router.. I have mine behind it, but maybe there's something weird going on.
Try crafting some antenna out of aluminum, and ... oh wait.. that's tv reception from the 70's ... nevermind.
Try repeating "There's no place like home" ... oh... yeah.. that's not gonna help either.
Hope the first two give you some insight.
Why aren't they answering tech calls today? Some Indian holiday?
Weird. |

sounds like a bandwidth issue. Do some speed tests and see if your getting what you pay for.

I'll try the speed tests again, but when I've tested it before, it's come pretty close to the advertised speeds.
I had the ATA in front of the router a few days ago, it was the tech help that told me to put it behind the switches.
Thanks for the suggestions though, I'll try setting my quality a little lower.

Two tests confirmed adequate speeds (I think they should be enough) - one test showed 2709 down/236 up and another test showed 2708 down and 194 up.
Is this not sufficient? |

It definitely is. Have you tried connecting your pc directly to the motorola to see what happens. |

I have tried connecting a computer directly to the motorola phone adapter and the same thing happens.
Last night, tech support had me do a ping test - what response times are needed for consistent phone service? |

I know people have had a lot of problems with Netgear routers/switches. Try disconnecting all of your routers/switches and run the following configuration:
Modem Motorola ATA PC
This will make sure that the Netgear boxes are not disrupting anything on the ATA. |
