Hi,

I just got my RTP300 router and plugged everything in as per the quick installation instructions. On Step 4 it says make sure the Router's internet light has stopped blinking before you go to step 5, which may take "as long as 10 minutes". I left it alone for 1 hour and 15 minutes and it still didn't stop blinking! so I turned on my computer, which is working fine.

However, the phone line will not work at all. The Phone 1 blue LED light blinks continuously, as does the Internet light.

I have restarted the computer, router, and cable modem to no avail and have double and triple checked to make sure everything is plugged in properly.

What can I do? I can not call tech support from my computer because my cell phone does not work inside my house (the reason I ordered Vonage service in the first place). I am so frustrated I'm about to send the whole thing back and call the phone company.

Please help if you can.

you probably will have to send the whole thing back anyway. sounds like its toast. you can try unplugging it for a bit and plugging it back in, and/or holding the reset button down for 30 seconds, but I don't think either will help. on your computer, if you go to http://192.168.15.1 (password admin) and go to the Status tab, what does it say there? I'm guessing something like "router still restarting"?

password admin username can be anything or just leave it blank

sounds like its more screwed than I thought originally. usually the voice portion is screwed but the main router and firmware portion works. a blinking power light is indicative of a failed firmware upgrade or a firmware upgrade or change in process.

So you think they either sent me a bad router or I screwed it up somehow? I guess I should call customer service and have them send me a new one and/or cancel altogether.

A few things...
try unplugging the router, leave it unplugged for a minute or so.

Unplug any other devices connected to it (phones, computers, etc). just have the internet cable going to the box... then plug in the power adapter into it and let it sit there for a good 10 mins on its own. After that, the blinking of the Intenet LED should be an occasional thing and not the rapid blinking that it'll be while it's doing its business. Hook up a phone to port 1 and see if there's a dial tone. if no dial tone, plug into port 2 and see if you get anything.

wow, I completely misread the original post. rightplace, are you sure the instructions say internet light and not power light? the internet light will probably always blink.
