Guys, wondering if you can help me out. I just got my Vonage kit with my linksys rtp300 router and tried hooking everything up to get my Vonage phone line working. no luck. I tried setting it up both ways as illustrated but neither would work, in fact I couldn't even get on the internet once the router was hooked up. It kept saying I had to register the line again. So I would unhook everything and restart with the same outcome. I've tried about 4 times now and nothing helps. The t1 line I use is through my apartment community I don't know if that info helps out any. So any ideas? is there a certain way I should do this? I was under the impression that a cable dsl router couldn't be used with a t1 line, but the customer service lady at Vonage i spoke to said it would. I also searched a little before posting and read that someone else had a t1 line and the Vonage line working fine. anyone else that has a t1 line and this service and that can shed a little light on this for me, any help would be much appreciated. I just moved into my new apartment and need a phone Very Happy

what keeps saying you have to register the line again? when you moved in, did you have to provide them with a mac address? and is your rtp300 hooked directly into the wall?

The t1 line is through verizon, when i first moved into the apartment i received an access code to log onto the internet, once i entered the code i then had free access to the internet. now once i installed my router, the verizon home page comes up and does not allow me to get onto the internet, it asks me to enter the access code again, but once i do it says error the access code has already been register. Once I disconnect the router and hook the computer back up directly to the t1 line everything works fine.

And yes the rtp300 was connected directly into the wall. I tried installing my old router i used for my cable modem at my old place and then hooking up the rtp300 to that as per the directions but i still couldn't get onto the internet. That made me question if it was possible, and led me to here.

sounds like your service is based on the nic's mac address. use mac cloning on the rtp300 to clone the mac of the nic on your computer. you can find your mac address by going to a command prompt and typing ipconfig /all it's the numbers like this 00-00-00 etc after "Physical Address"
then rehook your rtp300 back up and plug your computer into it, type in http://192.168.15.1 (username can be anything or blank, password is admin) and find mac cloning. type in the mac you found and enable cloning. this should fix it.

Which operating system are you using on your computer?

For Win2000/XP:
Click Start, Run, type "CMD", click OK. Then type IPCONFIG /ALL and the MAC address will show up as the "Physical Address"

For WinME/98/95:
Click Start, Run, type WINIPCFG, click OK, and the MAC address will be displayed there... although I don't remember what they call it there.

Ok I have my physical address # now but when I try and log in using the ip you gave me i get "error:error found on page" I left the log in blank, and used admin for password. anything else i can try.

also when i am able to log in, which physical address do I use Ethernet adapter, or PPP adapter? I have both #'s and didn't knwo which one to use so i copied both down, figure I could get this question out of the way in case i have to ask it later Wink

You have to use:
user:admin
password:admin

Unless you've changed them to something else.

The physical address of the ethernet adapter is what you want to use.

Ok I'm finally back on the internet with this router setup but my phone line diesn't work still. I get a message saying my phone may be plugged into the wrong port or soemthing like that. I tried both and get the same message with each line. I hooked everything as the directions said. Hopefully this is a solveable issue as well. I read one other guy had the same thing happen and just sent his stuff back. any idea?
