Well i signed up Tuesday and i received my router today. What a dissapointment. The RTP 300 is supposed to be plug and play so i followed the connection instructions in the proper order and even though the router was blinking as the packets were being received i could not connect to the internet. So i unplugged everything again for 20 mins and tried again. Now i can get a dial tone on the phone however am not able to make any calls. My internent connection is constantly receiving packets but always stops sending packets after about 5 seconds. I have tried connecting and shutting down over and over to no success.
What a dissapointment. Anyone have the same problem of receiving packets with this router? I have called my ISP and they could not figure it out either. My connection is fine and i am running xp. |

saskgui, try disconnecting your phone and your PC from the router. When that's done, disconnect the power to both the router and the cable modem. Next, turn back on the cable modem after 20 seconds, and let that sit for 2 full minutes. Then, turn on the power to the router and walk away for 10 full minutes. That should get you up and running.
As an aside, in my own experience, I've turned routers into bricks by disconnecting the power during a firmware upgrade. I hope you have not done the same. |

I have the same problem with the RTP300 that replaced my RTP31P2. The only reason I had the RTP31P2 replaced is because of a hissing noise on line 1. Seems like this may be a flaw in the RTP300 design. I'll know for sure in two days as they are now sending me a new RTP300.

First log into you RTP300 (http://192.168.15.1 in web browser address bar and u/n + p/w = admin), and verify the firmware its on. If it does not reflect 1.00.37, you will experience intermittent problems. You should at that time call Vonage and have the Tier2 tech remove the phone number from the config file. A new config file will go out to the router, and the firmware will follow shortly ( you can tell when the f/w is downloading as the power light will blink for a few mins.). Once the router reboots itself, the tech needs to readd the phone number to config, and the router should have a hard reset done (reset button on back of router depressed for 15secs). After all this, the router should be fine. |
