I just received this router and it works great. I just plugged the network cable, connected the phone and powered it up and the thing works. I had to do perform no configuration whatsoever.

Only problem I have with the router is power adapter. It accepts only 110V as input. As it is a switched power adapter, I was expecting a one with a range of 100-240V input. Power adapter with multiple voltage input comes handy when I have to travel internationally. I do not trust the travel adapter as it fried my earlier router. Can anyone tell me from where I can get international power adapter for this router please.

The best and cheapest way is to buy one when you get over to the foreign country. Just match the voltage & polarity and you'll be fine. (bring your 110v adapter to the store & they'll be able to match it).

Just received my RTP300 yesterday.
DHCP/NAT is working fine, and I am able to connect to the internet from my PC, but the RTP300 does not reply to any DNS queries from my PC! So I had to configure my NIC manually to use my ISP's DNS servers.

My setup is

Cable model --- RTP300 --- PC (XP Pro)
___________________`--- Phone

Anyone else have the same problem?

If its of interest to anyone, the RTP300 runs on Linux (2.4.17_mvl21, uClibc), with all of its source avaiable on the Linksys website. And it is sortof funny to see the "This software should be used as a reference only, and it not
intended for production use!" note in the HTML source in the router's admin panel.

My internet connections coming from the RTP300 work fine, DNS included. It tells the PC to use the RTP300 as the DNS server, and it works fine (just tried it with my laptop). I did follow the installation instructions verbatim though, as in plugged in the router to the 'net without anything else connected to it and let it sit for about 10 minutes before connecting anything to it.

I used to have the Linksys RT31P2 (http://media.vonage.com/images/linksys_rt31p2.jpg) and was having some weird issues with the call quality that the tech guys were unable to fix. Sometimes when I would make a phone call the ringing noise would sound very screechy, loud, and just plain annoying, it sounded like this: http://www.geocities.com/mabeshark/phone.mp3

Also, I have our Vonage voicemail disabled because we already have an answering machine, but were experiencing problems with it. Whenever someone would call and get our answering machine, but hang-up before the actual *BEEP* to record a message, the machine would think they were still there, and usually record a 5 second blank message. The answering machine worked fine in the past, and the problem was a bit of an annoyance, but the tech guys again were unable to resolve the issue.

Anyway, the tech guys figured my device might be faulty, atleast from the "call ringing noise" problem, so they shipped me the new RTP300 and I've been using it since last Friday, 8/19. I didn't have any setup issues, just plugged it right up and let it do it's own thing. I'm not sure about the call quality, it might be better, today when I was on speaker phone it sounded clearer than I remember the old adapter. Also, the weird ringing noise doesn't occur anymore, and it seems our answering machine works fine now, no more blank messages.

The only things I don't like about the RTP300:

1) Web access setup pages seem a bit slower than the RT31P2 , which loaded basically in an instant. On the other hand, the RTP300 does not force you to restart the router with setting changes (like port forwarding), as the RT31P2 did. I think I'd rather have the little downgrade in speed, as compared to restarting with every setting change.
2) For some reason now my phone has started ringing shorter when someone calls. It seems to just be on my wall phone though, which is not electrically powered, just hooks into the phone line. (So maybe the signal the adapter is sending through the phone line to tell it to ring is not as long??) None of my electrical cordless phones experience this problem though. It's not a big problem, just a small annoyance, but maybe it's just happening to me.
3) What nooper said about "This software should be used as a reference only, and it not
intended for production use!" note in the HTML source in the router's admin panel.
-- I don't know what's up with that, but it seems a little fishy.

All in all I think I've had minor problems with the RTP300, and it seems to just work better. Oops, I just realized I'm replying to this thread that's like a week old, oh well, just my two cents on the new adapter.

Ok you have to excuse my ignorance. I have ordered my new service and I am still awaiting delivery of my first adapter. Should I expect that this is the router that I will be receiving. I ordered directly through Vonage and I set up a new account. I am really looking forward to getting this and being able to tell Verizon where they can stick their constant Rate increases. Worse than the cable company was.

Ray.

Originally when I signed up for Vonage the adapter they shipped was the RT31P2, but I'm not sure if they've actually started shipping the RTP300 to new customers. In some thread I recall VonageTPA, or someone, saying something about this, but can't quite remember. (Adapter page @ http://www.vonage.com/help.php?category=38&nav=5)

If you do end up with the RT31P2 and it works fine for you, then you should be good. In the event you have problems that come up with it, and you're unable to resolve them through technical support, then I'm sure they'd suggest, or you can ask for the RTP300 to be sent as a replacement. If they plan on replacing your adapter by sending you a new one, then all you have to do is send the old one back, they provide the shipping label and everything. Hope that helps.
