PostPosted: Thu Aug 04, 2005 1:21 pm    Post subject: No Caller Name Display For Past Month - No Resolution. Reply with quote Back to top

Beginning on June 21st, I stopped receiving ANY caller name display info. Before this, most names showed up. Since then, not a single call has name info; just number display.

I opened a ticket with Vonage Canada and received the following response after a few days:

Quote:
Good Afternoon:
Inbound Vonage CallerID will not display
when:
1) A Vonage Canadian DID customer receives a call from a non-Canadian
originated PSTN phone.
2) A Vonage Canadian DID customer receives a call from
another Canadian originated PSTN phone that passed through any
FeatureA type trunks
along the path.

This is a known issue it occurs in the way the call ID is picked up
between countries. The issue has no resolution as of this point
although Vonage is working on a resolution.

Thanks for being a Vonage customer

Sincerely,

Kipp

It seems others in Canada might be having this problem. See This Thread

I will be phoning them again since I am not receiving all the features I am paying for and will post back if they get it working.

Please let me know if anyone else has had this problem and if it was resolved.

In your link (see this thread), one person said they resolved this by having a phone support tech 'flashing' their router, then resetting it. Maybe they rebooted it through an actuall reset, or maybe just unplugging it.

I hear that not all numbers that should be recognized are. Do they eventually become recognized after a call, or is it just a prob with the system?

I'm experiencing something similar, I receive caller information for Canadian calls but any calls from the United States (where we receive most of our calls) only show the phone number and no name - some the number is duplicated in the name area.

I would love to see this working, it would be nice to have the features we're paying for - or at least be told the feature wouldn't provide that information when we sign up .

Other than this, I really don't have any complaints with Vonage - I'm sure I could come up with some ideas for new features and improvements but I just feel very thankful this technology is available... I really did not enjoy paying Bell Canada so much money for long distance bills!

haha when I asked Vonage why I didnt have name display on my phone, and they told me it was because Vonage Canada didnt support name display... lol what a crock..

Right now I'm getting the "circuits busy" intercept when trying to make and outbound call.. pretty annoying.

I'm in the same boat, I've had the system since Aug 25 and only have call display not name display. I could live without it but I think they should fess up and be honest about it before people buy into it. It's not that big a deal for me but it's kinda dishonest on their part promissing something they can't offer.

call/name display works fine for me... using PAP2 adapter with a D-Link router on Rogers Cable in Toronto. I dunno about what all the fuss is about...

The fuss is that it isn't working for a lot of people. Did you not read the thread?

Just thought I'd follow up and say that caller name display is functioning normally again...Yay!!!

However, at the time it started working again I have a new problem.
About half of my incoming calls are no longer logged on my Vonage account. I have opened another ticket for this problem but no response yet.

My incoming and outgoing calls show up several hours later for me. It's not an instant process. So maybe it's the same for you?
