I have tried to call Delta Airlines reservations at 800-221-1212 and immediately hear the following message in a female voice:

"Sorry, the toll-free number you have called is blocked from your calling area"

My area code is 858, as is my mobile phone, but I can call just fine from my mobile.

What gives? Can others with Vonage confirm that the number does/doesn't work from their Vonage line?

I understand there are other options for reaching them from my Vonage phone (thank you for the number!) but this does not really address the issue of why this particular toll-free number doesn't work. Anyone know?

All the Vonage calls go through NJ, so the toll free number must not work with numbers from NJ for some reason. If you search the forums you will see people who are in Canada and cannot get to Canada's toll-free numbers because they are "calling" from NJ.

Thanks for the link. I have a hard time beleiving that Delta Airlines does not have a "national" toll-free number... I guess I'll have to deal with the fine folks at Vonage's Indian call center tomorrow... ugh.

Matter of principle. I pay for a service, it should work as advertised.

I doubt it will do any good. Complaining to the CS reps is not likely going to get to any people higher up, nor will it likely get 800 numbers working correctly(other people have tried).
