Got my RT31P2 about a month ago, and haven't had too many problems, other than a few dropped calls, which I attribute to my ISP.
Since Vonage is switching to a different adapter, should I just return mine to head off any problems? |

why? what problems do you foresee? vonage is simply switching the device they ship out. they have shipped out, made or supported many adaptors. the cisco ata-186, the mta's, pap2, rt31p2, wrt54gp2, wrtp54g, rtp300, and another motorola device here soon. all of those devices listed work with vonage, but you haven't felt the need to switch to them have you? |

If yours is working fine keep it! We don't know how well the new adapter will work, and you can always get one if your RT31P2 stops working. |

Nope, but scores of people around here have. Just search the forums! |

Going forward in ATAs isn't always taking a step forward. If I had my choice of ATAs, I'd prefer to have one of the Cisco ATAs. If they're anything like Cisco's IP phones are, they'd make a real nice product. Of course, at $200/pop, there's no mistaking why Vonage is going with the Linksys products.
I'm currently having line noise issues with my RT31P2 (been through 2 of them, with the 2nd one they sent far worse than the first), otherwise I'd just let it be. I'd much rather have a mature product that's been thoroughly tested in the field than a new one hot off the drafting table.
The RTP300 & WRTP54G seem to be very similar in design & firmware, so they're probably the same product...and you can read all about the love stories people have for their WRTP54G's on this forum. I'm planning on using it strictly as a phone adatper, so I'll hopefully miss out on all the pain & suffering. |
