This morning the message waiting light was flashing on my phone. It has never done that to alert me of Voicemail before.
I also noticed that when I call my local voicemail number, it no longer prompts me to enter my phone number.
These are good changes.

Just called in a test messge. Still no messaging waiting light yet.. Maybe my phone doesn't support it. I remember a post about that here some time ago. Some phones recognize the studdered dialtone some its encrypted into the signal. Depending on which phone you have you'll get it. I guess I don't have the rigt phone. |

I just tested mine again and still works. Just for the record, I have a VTECH 2421 cordless series phone system.

I didn't have it until this weekend which isn't that big of a deal since I am at work most of the time and I just get it emailed to me but it is nice to have the flashing light so I know I have voicemail.
Vonage now needs:
1) Call blocking 2) Names displayed with caller-id 3) Anything can improve latency which occurs to calls to certain places.
Even with the delay on calls to some places, it is still much better than calls made on a cell phone. |

Don't forget:
4) work with analog modems.
This annoys me more than it should. |

Does it not work at all with analog modems? I still have my basic line cut down to nothing and I had to use it the other night when my VPN connectivity was down.
This is food for thought on getting rid of the analog line.

Vonage worked with my ADT alarm and TIVO, which is all I cared about when I ditched my home phone.
Since, I purchased a gemstar ebook http://www.gemstar-ebook.com/ebcontent/devices/1150_intro.asp and it flat refuses to connect over Vonage.
There is a way to use it with a USB Windows PC, but I have none right now. I am about to purchase an old PC just to dedicate it to this task. This seems a waste.
Vonage seems to work with some modems, but not all. |
